Principal's Message
Bienvenidos and Hello Riverview!
First let me say thank you to the team of parents/guardians who donated water and snacks for the Mentor training days and to those that volunteered on the first day of school. Your support helped us to kick off one of the best starts to a school year in my career. It was exciting to have so many of you involved and I look forward to the efforts of our Community School Coordinator Stefanie Alvarez and Vice Principal Herbie Gomez to continue this trend.
Overall, we are so glad to be back on campus and seeing students daily and we are off to a great start. Students are quickly figuring out the rotating schedule and are in class on time despite the long walks to PE. Next week we look forward to seeing all of you at Back to School Night on Wednesday August 21 from 5:30 - 7:15pm. The evening event will give you time to meet your child's teachers and learn about all of the great things they will experience this year. The Administrative team looks forward to meeting you as well so be sure to look for us as we visit classes with you and help direct you to the right classrooms. Also, check out the brief introductions by Vice Principal's Dr. Richardson and Mr. Gomez below.
All of our new staff members have quickly picked up on the ins and outs of our systems and have begun immediately by establishing classroom expectations , seating charts and more. In addition to the staff mentioned last month, Riverview also welcomes:
Herbie Gomez, Vice Principal
Dayanna Perez Munguia, Math
Hannah Portee, Counselor
Finally, save the date of Friday, August 30 for our first Cafecito with Clark. These monthly meeting will occur at 8:30 am and again at 6pm (virtually) to give multiple opportunities. They are open to all members of our community and will be a chance for us to talk, address concerns, and answer questions. Additionally, we are working to initiate our Parent Faculty Club again to provide yet another opportunity for you to be involved here at Riverview. More information will follow soon.
I hope the remaining days of August are good to you.
Warm regards,
Laurie Clark, Principal

Welcome Two New Administrators
It is with joy and gratitude that I have this opportunity to introduce myself as one of the new vice principals at Riverview Middle school. My name is Mr. Gomez and this year I will have the privilege of being the administrator for the seventh grade class of 2026. I’m from Costa Rica and when I was six years- old my family decided to move to this beautiful country. As an educator of almost 20 years, I’ve had opportunities to teach English and Spanish in the high and middle schools, serve high schools as an assistant principal, and promote the success of English Learners as an elementary school English Language Learner Specialist. Without a doubt, I know that the 2024-2025 school year will be full of academic achievements and fun-filled activities for each student. My desire is to be able to serve you and help you with anything you need so that you and your family know that here at Riverview: WE ARE FAMILY!
I am thrilled to introduce myself as the new Vice Principal of Riverview Middle School. It is such an honor and privilege to join such a dedicated and loving community. My name is Dr. Ronald Richardson and I will be the administrator supporting the 6th grade scholars this year. I began his career in 2002 as a 4th grade teacher in Oakland, California. I also worked as a Middle School Assistant Principal and an Elementary School Principal in West Contra Costa Unified. In addition, I served as an Middle School Principal in Oakland Unified, and a High School Principal in San Leandro Unified. I look forward to an amazing journey and successful year here at Riverview Middle School.
