Superintendent Update
Dear Nashoba Community,
On Sunday, June 9, 2024 we will host the commencement ceremony for graduating seniors of Nashoba Regional High School. High School Graduation is such a special moment that we carry throughout our lives. It is a major transition time for young adults who are entering the next phase of their lives. Let us honor and celebrate the accomplishments of all of the graduates as a collective community, as well as in our homes with our loved ones. The young adults who will walk across the stage worked hard to receive their diplomas, and we are incredibly proud of each and every one of them. Join me in congratulating our graduates and wishing them well in the future.
Peace,
Kirk Downing (He/Him)
Superintendent

STEM Challenge: Designing Pollinators Through Cross-Grade Collaboration
Students at the Mary Rowlandson Elementary School in Ms. Hanyaloglu’s class paired up with their fourth-grade buddies from Ms. Rumbelow’s class to carry out a STEM challenge on building a pollinator. Students were tasked with using the Engineering Design Process to:
Use what they were taught about pollination to design a pollinator
Construct a pollinator using pom pom balls, cotton balls, yarn, feathers, popsicle sticks, coffee filters, and pipe cleaners
Demonstrate pollination and show how the pollinator would carry the pollen (flour) from one flower to another.
Determine if they were successful and discuss how they would redesign the pollinator if they were able to do it again
All students and teachers were engaged in this learning and demonstrated a strong understanding of pollination and the engineering process. Great work students and excellent collaboration, Ms. Hanyaloglu and Ms. Rumbelow!
