Peak Prep Principal's Update
September 23, 2021
Dear Families,
Hello,
This week I have had the opportunity to speak with several families regarding attendance. Our teachers take attendance daily by 11 am. Any student that has yet to log into the LMS or submit work by 11 am will be marked absent. Families will receive a notification of absence via email. If you feel that you are receiving that message in error or your student is absent for an excused reason (such as illness), please do not hesitate to reach out to your homeroom teacher.
Some questions that have come up:
- What happens if my student logs in and submits work after 11 am? Will they still be marked absent? No. While you will have received a notification of absence, the absence will be cleared the following day when teachers re-check attendance from the day prior. We often have students log in and submit work later in the day for various reasons.
- What happens if my student logs in and does not submit any work? If the student was completing work offline, please let the homeroom teacher know what they were doing (reading, researching, working on a paper, etc.).
- My student does not log in or submit work daily but is still on track in their courses. That's ok, right? No, students must log in AND submit work daily (M-F), or they are not abiding by the terms of the master agreement and may be removed from our independent study program. Students are expected to attend school every day as scheduled.
Thank you for your continued support and for being a partner in your student's learning! I look forward to sharing information with you throughout the year. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Warmest Regards,
Mrs. Sabrina Ciolino

What triggers re-engagement?
Re-engagement may be triggered by one or several of the following items:
2) If a pupil is not generating attendance for more than three (3) school days or 60% of the instructional days in a school week,
3) If the pupil violates the terms of their master agreement.
4) If satisfactory academic progress in one or more courses is not being made.
Satisfactory Academic Progress
- The student's achievement and engagement in the program.
- The completion of assignments, assessments, or other indicators that evidence that the pupil is working on assignments.
- Learning required concepts, as determined by the supervising teacher.
- Progressing toward successful completion of the course of study or individual course, as determined by the supervising teacher.
Synchronous instruction=Live Lessons
- All students in grades K-3 are offered daily synchronous instruction by their teacher.
- Students in 4th-12th grade will be offered at least weekly synchronous instruction by their teachers, but all students in 6th-12th grade should have multiple opportunities each week due to having multiple teachers.
Learning Logs
Please take a minute to initial, sign, and finalized your student's learning log every Friday afternoon.
Homeroom Teacher
Each student at Peak Prep has been assigned a homeroom teacher. Your homeroom teacher will be your primary point of communication for support.
Please make sure that you sign your student's weekly learning log!
