Red Ribbon Week
Each year we commemorate Red Ribbon Week. Red Ribbon Week is an annual campaign in the United States dedicated to drug prevention and awareness. It typically takes place during the last week of October and promotes living a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. Mission Meadows will be participating by organizing activities that educate students and the public about the dangers of drug use and the importance of making positive choices.
Spirit Days:
- Monday, October 28th - Pajama Day
- Tuesday, October 29th - Star Wars Day
- Wednesday, October 30th - 80's Workout Clothing (or any excersize clothes)
- Thursday, October 31st - Dress as your favorite book character OR wear RED.
Parent Volunteers Needed - We could use a couple more parent volunteers to help run the lunch time activities for Red Ribbon Week. If you are free between 11:00-1:00pm on Monday through Thursday, please sign up to help. It is easy and very rewarding!
October 31st: Costumes and Favorite Book Character Day
It is a tradition at Mission Meadows that students in our TK, Kinder, and SDC classes do participate in the traditional Halloween festivities with costumes. It has also become a tradition that we encourage all students in the 1st-5th grade to celebrate Halloween by dressing up as their favorite book character. We wanted to let you know that costumes are welcomed and encouraged at our Harvest Carnival, but if your child wants to dress up on Halloween and they are in the 1st-5th grade, please start planning now to find their favorite book character costume. Help us as a Leader in Me school to remember that Leaders are Readers! But if your child would rather wear RED for Red Ribbon Week that would also be an option on this day.
Mission Meadows Restaurant Nights - Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday!
Parent Teacher Conferences
Parent conferences will be held the week of November 12-15th. This is a valuable opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher to discuss their progress, celebrate achievements, and identify ways to support their continued growth. We strongly encourage all parents to schedule a conference and attend, as your involvement is crucial to your child’s success. Please respond to your child’s teachers' request to set up a time that works best for you. We look forward to seeing you there!
Garden Club
Did you know Mission Meadows has a GARDEN CLUB?! The students are doing an AMAZING job. This last Tuesday was Fall Vegetables planting day! PARENT VOLUNTEERS WELCOME! If you want to help out, contact the school office and they'll connect you with the organizers.

How to Volunteer or Join the PTA
Attendance at School =Success
- 95% Attendance Goal: Consistent attendance is crucial for elementary-age children because it ensures they receive the full benefits of classroom learning, social interactions, and essential academic routines. Regular attendance helps students build a strong foundation in their studies, develop good habits, and stay on track with their peers. This year, our school has set a goal for all students to achieve at least 95% attendance to earn the H.E.R.O. (Here, Every day, Ready, On time) award, recognizing their commitment to being present and engaged in their education.
- Independent Study is Available: If you have a know extended absence of more that 3 days, you can ask for Independent Study Packets that your student can complete for academic and attendance credit. You must give a minimum of SEVEN days notice to the office and teacher for a packet to be created, but FOURTEEN (14) days is preferred. If the student completes and turns in the packet the absences will not count against your child.
- Attendance Challenge - If we can have an overall attendance at the end of the school year of at least 95%, then the students will be able to duct tape Mr. Peel to a wall and throw cream pies in his face. Last year we grew from 92% to 93.7% attendance - which was fantastic, but Mission Meadows still had the third lowest overall attendance of all Vista USD elementary school. Let's reach our goal this year Mustangs.
