Dear 6th Grade Parents,
Welcome to Henry Middle School! We would like to share two upcoming opportunities for our families to learn more about 6th grade at HMS:
6th Grade Open House (Thursday, August 8th)
6th Grade Parent Information Sessions (Tuesday or Wednesday, August 20th or 21st)
6th Grade Open House
We would love to see all of you on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at our 6th Grade Open House! Open House will be a “come and go” event from 6:00- to 7:30 PM (similar to elementary Open House). Please bring your child’s schedule so you can visit each of your student’s new classrooms and meet their teachers. Additionally, during Open House, students will be able to explore our library and check out a book!
If your child is scheduled for the Band or Choir elective, please plan to attend a meeting with the Directors at 5:00 PM. Band will meet in the cafeteria, and Choir will meet in the Competition Gym (both are located in the back of the school).
6th Grade Parent Information Sessions
HMS will be hosting a Parent Information Session on Tuesday, August 20th from 6:00-7:00 PM in the cafeteria. This session will be repeated on Wednesday, August 21st at the same time and place. Please feel free to attend the session most convenient to your schedule.
We will share important information with parents about how to help your child successfully transition to middle school. Topics covered will include:
Campus Procedures & Expectations (including Language Registers and The 3 Gates),
Academic Rigor and Grading in Middle School, and
Strategies to support your middle school student at home.
We are excited for the new school year, and we look forward to seeing everyone on August 14th for the first day of the new school year!
