Project Challenge at WA with Tina Sheedy
Welcome back Washington families. It’s so exciting to start a new school year.
- Project challenge will start September 26th for second grade students who qualify.
- First grade students will start early November.
As in years past, my goal is to provide rigorous and engaging tasks that challenge students’ thinking.
At home: challenge your child to think about different ways to solve problems. Can they show their thinking using numbers, words, or a picture? If a problem is difficult, do they try other strategies to get the correct answer? Simple card games are a great way to practice math facts the whole family can enjoy (Fish for Ten and Addition Top It). Board games, such as Sorry or Trouble, require strategic planning, yet are very fun and engaging! I’m looking forward to a great school year!
Notes from the Nurse:
- Extra set of clothes: Please remember to provide an extra set of clothes in their student's locker? We have gone through all of our 5/6x & 6/7 size pants for boys and girls (lent out ones have not been returned). If you are able, please consider donating leggings, sweatpants, or shorts in 4/5 or 6/7 or 7/8.
- Eye Exams: New students and KG families - please bring in results from your child's optometrist eye exam
Morning Arrival
Thank you for your help keeping our students safe during morning arrival. Please walk your child to a path or sidewalk next to WA grounds. We ask that you please refrain from dropping your child off, unaccompanied, in the staff parking lot. Thank you in advance for your help keeping every child safe.
