From the Principal
Copeland families,
Thank you so much for coming out to support our curriculum nights. This was a great opportunity to hear about ways to support your child this school year. If you were not able to make it, the teachers shared the presentation with you via email. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you did not receive this information.
We are very thankful to our PTO for all of the extra activities they provide for our students and staff. Kindergarten is excited to go on a field trip to the Oil Ranch on October 18th. We appreciate our PTO for being committed to providing these experiences for our students. Thank you to all who have joined our amazing PTO. This is one way joining our PTO directly impacts students.
We are very excited about our upcoming field days. Kinder and 1st grades will have field days on Wednesday, October 23rd at 8:40 and 12:40; 2nd and 3rd grades will have field days on Thursday, October 24th at 8:40 and 12:40; and 4th and 5th grades will have field days on Friday, October 25th at 8:40 and 12:40. This is such a fun outdoor event, and we would love for you to join us. Please remember to send in your RSVP form so you won't miss out on any of the fun while checking in at the front office. This is also a great volunteer opportunity! Please be sure to check your email to see how you can help. Just a reminder that this is an instructional day, so school aged siblings will not be permitted to attend and watch sibling's field days.
Our first marking period will end on October 18th and report cards will go home on October 24th. For students in grades 2-5, parents may access and monitor their grades through the Home Access Center. If you need help logging into your student's account, please call 281-897-4357.
Lastly, we continue to stress the importance of being at school daily when you are well. To date, our current attendance percentage is 96.17%. Way to go, Colts! Let's keep it up!
Thank you for your continued support of our school and our community. It's great to be a Copeland Colt!

Students in grades K-5 will have four opportunities during the school year to use “credit-by-exam” to accelerate to another grade level. Students will only have one opportunity to test for each grade level considered.
To apply to take the test to skip kindergarten, a student must be 5 by September 1, and registered in a CFISD school. To apply to take the test to skip grade 1, a student must be 6 by September 1, and enrolled in a CFISD school.
Students who earn scores of 80% or better on each component of the credit-by-exam will qualify to advance one grade. Only one grade level may be “skipped” each year. No retests will be given.
If you are interested in getting more information about credit-by-exam, please contact the school counselor.
