'Tis the Season!

The holiday season is here! Though our fall was packed full of exciting Halloween and Thanksgiving events that we all enjoyed, we know that there are still plenty of exciting events in store for our students and families at KES this December. Keep reading these family newsletters throughout the school year to learn about other exciting events and important information!

Winter Band Concert

This year's winter band concert is scheduled for Wednesday, 12.4.24 at 7pm in the KES Cafeteria. Some things to note about the concert:

-4th, 5th, and 6th grade music students will be performing at the concert.

-The report time for students is 6:45pm. They can report to the gym with instruments and music ready.

-Once students are done performing. They can quickly put away their music items, then find a seat in the audience with their families.

KES 12 Days of December

As in previous years, KES will be ringing in the holiday season with our annual "12 Days of December" dress up days. Please view the following link for dress up day information.

KES Christmas Program

This year our KES Christmas Program is scheduled for Thursday, December 12th. We will have two performances of our show open to the public, one at 1:30 pm and another at 6:00 pm. Each grade level is hard at work preparing their song for this year's performance: The Colors of Christmas! We have a mix of some familiar songs, as well as some unique ones we think everyone will enjoy. We look forward to seeing all our friends and families at this exciting Christmas event!

Morning Breakfast Expectations

We are so fortunate to be able to offer all our students at KES a free breakfast before they start each school day. Breakfast time in the cafeteria begins at 7:30 and ends at 8:05. We are noticing that students dropped off after our first bell rings at 7:50 do not have adequate time to eat breakfast in the cafeteria, which impacts their learning time. Please make every effort to have students here before the bell at 7:50 so they have time to eat in the cafeteria.

CARDS Update

We continue to be impressed by the success of our new CARDS reward system and the positive impact it is having on student behavior at KES. Students and staff can still be heard cheering each Monday as students and staff CARDS winners are announced. Our VIP table is still a favorite of students that are selected in the raffle each week. The success of our new system could also be noted in a recent review of our behavior data. When comparing November 2024 to November 2023, we have seen an overall decrease in behavior referrals in our building. We are proud of the great behavior our students are showing each day!


We look forward to rewarding our students for their great behavior (0 major referrals or less than 3 minor referrals during the second marking period) at our behavior reward activity next week: A Cozy Movie Morning! Students will have the choice to attend one of several different movie options being shown in different locations around the building. If your student has earned this reward, they will be receiving the information letter and permission slip later this week. Please be sure to send their permission slip back, as this will serve as their "admission ticket" into the movie of their choosing.
