CCBA Food Drive
Centralia Community Benevolent Association Food Pantry Drive
NHCS
March Madness-Food Drive Style
New Horizon Christian School will be participating in a food drive during the month of March that will benefit the CCBA Food Pantry. Each school day this month will have an assigned food item that students can bring. This will be set up like the NCAA basketball bracket. Students in 3rd through 8th grade will fill out their own individual brackets. Kindergarten through 2nd grades will fill out the bracket as a class. They will need to guess the amount of each item they think will be brought in each day. For example, the first match up will be boxes of cereal vs peanut butter. Students will guess how many cereal boxes and peanut butter jars they think will be collected. If students guessed that there would be 60 boxes of cereal brought in and 45 jars of peanut butter brought in, Cereal boxes would advance to the next round. Students would need to be mindful of what peanut butter could be matched up with later in the month as to how many total items could be brought in.
Each day we will tally up totals and post in the hallway for everyone to see. Students will update their brackets daily. This is all for fun and a way to get our school families motivated to help out a wonderful ministry in our community. However, there will be a K-2 competition and a 3rd-8th competition.
K-2 Competition: The class that guesses the winner and/or the closest accurate bracket will win an ice cream party.
3rd-8th Competition: The individual who guesses the winner and/or the closest accurate bracket will win an ice cream party for their class.
Here is a list of foods to be brought in and on what days:
Monday, March 4th-box of cereal
Tuesday, March 5th-peanut butter
Wednesday, March 6th-stuffing mix
Thursday, March 7th-boxed potatoes
Monday, March 11th-mac and cheese
Tuesday, March 12th-canned fruit
Wednesday, March 13th-canned tomatoes
Thursday, March 14th-canned tuna
Monday, March 18th-tuna/hamburger helper
Tuesday, March 19th-rice-a-roni and pasta sides
Wednesday, March 20th-green beans
Thursday, March 21st-pancake syrup
Monday, March 25th- crackers- saltines, ritz, cheese crackers
Tuesday, March 26th-biscuit mix/cornbread
Wednesday, March 27th-pancake mix
Thursday, March 28th-packages of pasta
Example: Boxes of cereal will only be counted Monday, March 6th for the total for the March Madness food brackets.
Can you bring them in later? Sure, it just will not be included in the contest the students are doing but will still benefit the food pantry.
Please help if you can and if you can't, that is okay too!
