Mr. Mauck's Musings
I am sure I don't need to remind anyone but next week is Fall Break and school will not be in session. We were able to celebrate a college signing as Carlee Rogers signed with Cumberland to play volleyball. Good luck Carlee. Congratulations to Trevor Burton and Mr. Eric Dall representing JHS as our Student and Staff of the Week. Thank you to Mr. Sean Jochum, Mr. Brian Uebelhor, Mrs. Addison Betz and all of our staff who proctored the PSAT or SAT on Wednesday. We tested over 400 students on Wednesday. Our Freshmen attended the Tour of Opportunity, which is a career exploration activity in conjunction with Vincennes University Jasper. The Freshmen toured employment opportunities based on their top three choices on the Naviance Career Assessment. At the end of the day they worked on their graduation portfolios.
School pictures and retakes have been taken. Buechlein Photography has online order forms available in the section below and they were emailed home. The 2023 Yearbooks were distributed during homeroom this week. If you know or are related to a 2024 graduate, their yearbooks are in the office ready to be checked out! It's that time of year! National High School Yearbook Week is here, and we're excited to celebrate the memories that make this year special. From unforgettable moments in the classroom to spirit-filled events and candid snapshots with friends—our yearbook captures it all! Don't Miss Out! Pre-order your copy of the 2025 book today while prices are DISCOUNTED, and make sure you’re part of the lasting image of our school. https://yb360.walsworthyearbooks.com/login/webBannerRedirect.html?snap=&schoolstore=jasper_high_school_325638/wkAlZq2yY2wc0zpofG1oC3c0

Prom fundraiser Attention Juniors and Junior Parents:
The first prom fundraiser is underway! Juniors are asked to sell at least $75 worth of merchandise for the online store, which began Monday and will close at midnight on October 21st. Juniors do not have to collect money as family and/or friends who purchase will simply fill in a junior's name when prompted for a "player's name" during check-out. The link to the store is below: https://jhsprom24.itemorder.com/
Fundraising has never been tastier! Show support for Jasper High School Performing Arts on Monday, Oct 21 from 4 pm - 8 pm at Fazoli's restaurant. Attendees should tell the cashier to support JHSPAC or use code FUND4U. A flyer is attached.
FFA wanted to send this out to you all to reach a larger community of local area farmers. Over fall break we are delivering meals to farmers/farm workers that are busy working in the fields. If you know of any Dubois County Farmer that is hard at work this harvest season please let them know of this opportunity to get a great meal! All they have to do is fill out the Google Form (Due this Wednesday, October 9th) that is attached in the flier below (scan the QR code). Please have them read the flier for more information and highlight this is available to ALL DUBOIS county farmers/farmhands, not just individuals within our school district.
Red Ribbon Week is the week of October 21-25. SADD has daily activates to raise awareness for our students to make safe and positive decisions.
We’ve been made aware of a terrific opportunity for students! It’s called the Science and Engineering Apprenticeship Program (SEAP). These internships are held at Naval sites across the US, with the Indiana site being Crane. Please click on the below link for more information. Applications for this program are currently open and close on November 1st.
https://www.navalsteminterns.us/seap/faqs.html If you have a student who is interested and applies, please let us know so Crane can be on the lookout for their name in the applications!
On Monday, November 11th at 10 am Jasper High School will host a program to honor our veterans on Veterans Day. All veterans are welcome to attend and will have reserved seating on the gym floor. We are requesting your help in honoring our veterans. Please email Mrs. Schum if you have a grandparent, parent, siblings and aunts or uncles who have served in the military. I have included specifics in a special section of this newsletter. Good luck to our football team as they travel to Evansville North to battle the Huskies.
Have a great weekend and Go Cats!
