CATCHING UP WITH... Mrs. Edmonston
We had another wonderful week at Canyon View Elementary School. On Tuesday, our Westview Ambassadors came for a playground playdate. The Ambassadors returned Wednesday Morning for a Character Counts Assembly all about exhibiting kindness.
We are looking forward to great week ahead. We have Spirit Days all week to celebrate Jog-A-Thon, a minimum day on Wednesday, VAPA Vision on Thursday, and our Jog-A-Thon is this Friday. The Jog-A-Thon event not only promotes health and wellness, it is the Canyon View Foundation's 2nd biggest fundraiser, after red-envelope week. The foundation funds so many important programs that make Canyon View exceptional: Art, Science Lab, Computer Science, Choral Music, PE, Impact, and so much more. Thank you for your support.
Let's Make it a GREAT week!

ATTENTION ALL FAMILIES - COMPLETE YOUR CONTINUING STUDENT REGISTRATION!
Dear Parents/Guardians,
PUSD 2025-2026 Continuing Student Registration is open!
Online Continuing Student Registration will be open until March 31, 2025. We MUST receive a completed digital packet for all returning students. This will allow for proper placement of your student for the 2025-2026 school year. Packets can be completed using any computer, tablet or smartphone with an internet connection.
Continuing Registration Steps:
Login and complete the digital registration packet via the online registration portal found here.
Review and complete any required forms located at the conclusion of the process. A packet is not considered finalized until this step is completed.
Please note: MEDICATION FORMS or ADDITIONAL SIGNED SITE SPECIFIC FORMS WILL NOT BE COLLECTED UNTIL SCHOOL BEGINS IN AUGUST FOR THE 2025-2026 SCHOOL YEAR.

CATCHING UP WITH... Picture Books for Our Families
Specially Curated Books from Ms. Alice Burge, CVES Library & Media Tech (& CVES Classified Employee of the Year!)
Celebration of Women’s History began as a week-long event in Santa Rosa, California in 1978. When President Jimmy Carter proclaimed it as a national observance in 1980, he said: “From the first settlers who came to our shores, from the first American Indian families who befriended them, men and women have worked together to build this Nation. Too often, the women were unsung and sometimes their contributions went unnoticed. But the achievements, leadership, courage, strength, and love of the women who built America was as vital as that of the men whose names we know so well.” Now every March, we remember and honor extraordinary women from around the world during Women’s History Month – here are just a few of their stories!
Mae Among the Stars, written by Roda Ahmed, illustrated by Stasia Burrington
A great book for readers who have big dreams and even bigger hearts! When Little Mae was a child, she dreamed of dancing in space. She imagined herself surrounded by billions of stars, floating, gliding, and discovering. She wanted to be an astronaut. Her mom told her, "If you believe it, and work hard for it, anything is possible.” Little Mae’s curiosity, intelligence, and determination, matched with her parents' encouraging words, paved the way for her incredible success at NASA as the first African American woman to travel in space. This book will inspire others to reach for the stars, to aspire for the impossible, and to persist with childlike imagination.
Amelia and Eleanor Go for a Ride, written by Pam Munoz Ryan, illustrated by Brian Selznick
Amelia Earhart and Eleanor Roosevelt were birds of a feather. Not only were they two of the most admired and respected women of all time, they were also good friends. This picture book relates the true story of a thrilling night when they made history together! On a brisk and cloudless evening in April 1933, Amelia and Eleanor did the unprecedented: They stole away from a White House dinner, commandeered a jet, and took off on a glorious adventure – while still dressed in their glamorous evening gowns! This book celebrates the pioneering spirit of two amazing women whose passion for life gave them the courage to defy convention in the name of fulfillment, conviction, and fun.
Malala’s Magic Pencil, written by Malala Yousafzai, illustrated by Kerascoet
As a child in Pakistan, Malala made a wish for a magic pencil. She would use it to make everyone happy, to erase the smell of garbage from her city, to sleep an extra hour in the morning. But as she grew older, Malala saw that there were more important things to wish for. She saw a world that needed fixing. And even if she never found a magic pencil, Malala realized that she could still work hard every day to make her wishes come true. This beautifully illustrated book tells Malala's story and shows the resilience that allowed Malala to hold onto hope, even in the most difficult of times.
CATCHING UP WITH... Parking Lot Safety Reminders
IMPORTANT NOTICE: THE GREEN CONE ZONE IS FOR SPECIAL DAY CLASS FAMILIES ONLY
Additional Parking Lot Reminders
- Attention TK/K Families: You are not required to park and walk students to the gate for drop-off. Use our drive-through drop-off instead. We have supervision from the curb to the blacktop from 8:20 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. Please continue to park and pick-up from the gate at dismissal.
- Attention Grade 1-5 Families: Do not park in the lot for drop-off or pick-up. Instead, use the supervised drive-through pick-up curb west of the office. This allows sufficient parking for our staff, and TK/Kindergarten families.
- Curbside Drop-off/Pick-Up: Use our designated drop-off/pick-up area to the west of the office only. Do not ask your child to meet you anywhere else in the lot. While this might seem faster for you, it slows down our system for everyone and creates a safety hazard.
