We have given $3000 so far for Outreach.
- Discussion Points:
A. Wear Red Day/ Lollipop Sales 2/13 *date change. Makefield Elementary School is celebrating Wear Red Day. Wear Red Day is a day where we all wear red to celebrate and raise awareness for people born with heart conditions. Makefield Elementary School will also be selling heart shaped lollipops in Constitution Hall on February 13. A portion of the proceeds will go to HEART WORKS.
B. Valentines Service Projects are on 2/13. Every year, each grade level has a service project where they support a specific organization.
C. Social Media Event 2/19 We are inviting you to join us on Wednesday, February 19th, 7pm at Makefield Elementary School for a research-backed discussion about the impact of smartphones and social media on our children’s mental health, focus, happiness, and relationships. Please join us to see how we can work together to keep our children safe in a world full of technology.
D. 76ers Night 3/3 This is a fun night out to attend a basketball game with friends. There is a sign up on Facebook. Tickets are expected to sell out quickly so get your tickets ASAP.
E. Book Fair 3/3-3/7 This is a great time to get to be involved and help out with your child's class. We need a lot of help for this event! Please sign up on sign up genius when sign ups are available.
F. Family Fun Night 3/5 There will be crafts and games. This event is only held in the cafeteria and the library. This is another opportunity for you to visit the book fair again.
G. Bag Bingo 3/7 This is the biggest PTO fundraiser of the year. It's always been designer bag bingo but this year we are doing half designer bags and the other half will be other items. Please remember to put in for the raffle baskets, there’s some great prizes! Everyone come out! A form went home to sign up for Bingo. We are still asking for additional donations. If you have a business and want to make a donation or share anything you may not need, we appreciate it! We are also looking for more help at the event to sell water, raffle tickets, 50/50.
H. Lucky Charms Breakfast 3/17 Each grade comes in separately and gets to enjoy a free breakfast. We ask for $1 donation for the MS society. There will be a sign up genius asking for volunteers as the event gets closer
I. Skate Night 3/25* date change This is a free fun event at Philly Skate Plex. All family members are welcome. You just need to pay for your skate rentals.
J. YYC 5K Sunday, April 27. We are hoping for a huge turn out. We will have a finishers field for community members to advertise businesses and organizations. A fun way to do the race is to join as a team. You can walk, run, or push a stroller. There will be music and cheerleaders to encourage you along the way. This is welcome to the community.
K. Milers Sign up genius went out today. It starts March 4. It's advertised as a preparation for 5K. Tuesdays after school we meet up at the learning garden. It's a free fun way to get wiggles out after school. We are looking to get kids active and outside. We are looking for many parent volunteers posted around the building to help keep the students safe. All volunteers must have clearances. You can help out as much or as little as you would like. Reach out to Linda Plews with any questions.

Makefield Community Outreach
Dear Makefield Families,
Makefield Community Outreach (formally known as the Sunshine Committee) would like to take a moment to let you know more about what we do. This program is sponsored by the MESPTO and has a mission to support teachers, students, and their families to ensure that the entire Makefield community has what they need to be successful in school. In order to reach our entire school community we would like to take this time to describe the resources that we have available this fall and winter. We will reach out again in the spring with more information about future opportunities.
If you would like to use any of the options below, please reach out to Colleen Wierzbowski cwierzbowski@pennsburysd.org. To respect the privacy of all of our community members, Colleen will be the only one to receive emails and requests. The committee will fulfill her requests, but will never know who the resources are going to.
In the Fall and throughout the year we provide:
Teachers with Back to School Gift Cards to help set up their classrooms
The Nurse with new clothes for days when kids might need to change
Daily Snacks for each classroom like pretzels or animal crackers for days when kids forget
Halloween costumes
Books for reading at home
Back to school supplies
Vouchers for Oktoberfest
Vouchers for Thanksgiving pies
Scholarships for Fall Enrichment classes and Field Trips
Gift cards for food and clothes
In the Winter we provide:
Winter coats, boots, hats, and gloves
Vouchers for students to use at the Holiday Shop and the Book Fair
Vouchers for Paint Night
Valentines
Gift cards for food for holiday breaks
Thank you for your time,
~Makefield Community Outreach
