Update on Project PEACE
This has been a busy year for the seven Arkansas middle schools participating in Project PEACE with us! Some schools have been receiving PBIS training and coaching and all schools have participated in School Climate Surveys for Staff, Students, and Families. It was exciting to see the changes in survey data for the five schools that begin with Project PEACE in year 1. One trend that was particularly great to see was improvement in Family Engagement. More parents participated in the survey this year and parents had even more positive feelings about specific items regarding school climate at many of the schools.
Next up is a student focus group at each school. A small, diverse group of graduating students will spend some time with the Project PEACE evaluation team reflecting on their time at the school - what they liked about school, and how the school can be even better. In June, the school PBIS teams will be attending the Missouri School-wide PBIS Summer Institute. This will be a fantastic learning opportunity as well as a chance to meet and network with each other.
May Activities for PBIS Coaches and Teams
May is the perfect time for reflecting and planning. Here are some ideas for ending the year with a plan for starting next year:
- Assess where you are (PBISApps has great tools!), if you need additional implementation, or if you're ready for next steps (e.g., Classroom PBIS, Tier II or III)
- Review discipline data for the year and see if there are trends or spikes to plan for next year
- Have a solid plan for the fall kick-off to teachers and students
- Send PBIS information with final report cards
- Share data and celebrate successes with stakeholders!
