The Churchill Catch Up
November 17, 2024
Quarter 2: November 4 - January 23
ATTENDANCE MATTERS!
As a reminder CCHS is set up for students learn and complete work during their class time, eliminating homework as an obstacle to the learning process. The only way this works is if students are here to learn and work with their classmates and teachers.
I spoke to a number of students this week who have already used 1/2 of their 6 allowable absences for a quarter before being paused from classes and losing credit. Today marks the end of week 2 of 9 weeks, leaving 7 weeks of the quarter and very few absences left for many students. The only way to not have a missed day of school not count against your number of absences is to get the day out documented and turn that into Lauren.
Please review the full attendance policy in this newsletter below.
FAFSA INFORMATIONAL SESSION
Wednesday, November 20: 5-6 pm
If you would like to learn more about FAFSA, the importance in completing it and how to complete it please join Paul Wednesday, 11/20, for a virtual informational session. This session is for parents/guardians and students. Parents may attend without their child and students may attend without a parent, but it would be great both can attend together.
Additional information is available in the flyer attached.
Lockdown Drill: Thursday, 11/21
In our continued efforts to practice safety drills in order to be prepared for unplanned emergency events we will be having a lockdown drill on Thursday, 11/21. During this time students and staff will practice what to do in the case of direct threat to the school environment caused the building to go into Lockdown mode.
During this drill teachers will provide directions for students and go over various scenarios should they occur. They will practice hearing the building go into lockdown and go through the steps to ensure safety.
Please remember we practice these drills in case we need to implement them in the future. Thursday, 11/21 will be only a drill for practice.
