β½πβΎπΎπ³πππ₯ ELA Youth Sports Mini Research Unit
In this engaging Grade 7 ELA mini research unit, students dive into the world of youth sports to explore whether competitive programs like rec leagues and travel teams are helping or hindering teen development. Through peer interviews, analysis of research articles, and insightful conversations with coaches (Mr. Henderson and Nanuet Alumni Jason Wain) AND former athletic director, Mr. Arvanites, students investigate the pressures and benefits of youth athletics. After forming their own opinions, students participate in a dynamic Socratic Seminar to share findings, pose thought-provoking questions, and evaluate the true impact of youth sports on physical, mental, and social growth.
It's Alive?π§ͺπ¬π₯Ό
Students plan, conduct, and prioritize scientific knowledge. In task one of this NYS lab, students determine a list of the slides they have selected to be used as evidence for the four claims of the investigation. In task two, students identify the data that provides evidence to support the four claims. In task 3, students develop labeled models of a plant and an animal cell while identifying the similarities and differences of cell parts. Lastly, students support their claims that special structures associated with cells contribute to the function of a cell. SCIENCE RULES!!
