Message from your School Leader!

Good Day MAS Elementary Families!

We are officially in the home stretch!!! As a reminder students still have end of year exams coming up. Here at MAS we believe in working hard until the last day, so your child's attendance is still crucial for these last few weeks.

We have some awesome attendance incentives in place for attendance. When your child's clssroom earns 95% or higher attendance in 1st period, they earn a popsicle reward at the end of the day. If your child's cohort earns 100% each day, they earn a pizza party at the end of the week. We look forward to being able to reward as many classes as possible for amazing end of year attendance!

Our yearly goal for attendance is 95% for the school year. Here is how your child’s grade level is holding up:

PreK- 89.00%

Kinder- 92.20%

1st- 92.62%

2nd- 91.97%

3rd- 91.75%

4th- 92.17%

TOTAL- 91.88%

Reminder, every week when your child's grade level reaches 95% attendance or higher they earn a dress down day!!

Uniform Expectation Reminder

As a reminder, students can only wear MAS-issued shirts and sweaters in the classroom. There can be no long-sleeved shirts worn under short-sleeved MAS shirts.

Also, students can only wear black pants or leggings, NO JEANS.

TEACHER SHOUTOUT

Mr. Galindo has been so instrumental in supporting our MAS team these last couple of weeks! He was crucial during State Testing, being a translator for some of our tests and helping support the completion of our make-up testings for absent students.

This week Mr. Galindo also was a substitute when one of our teachers was sick at the beginning of the week. He does what is asked of him anytime he is needed with no complaint and we could not ask for a better teacher who upholds our MAS values on a daily basis!

PreK NMSU Scholar of the Week- Lorenzo Del Angel

Lorenzo comes to school daily with a positive attitude and ready to learn! He is kind to his friends, shares, tries his best and has fun doing it. He has improved greatly with his letter names and sounds and writing his name. He is a great role model for his peers.

PreK UNM Scholar of the Week- Mariah Montgomery

Mariah has shown great leadership in class. She answers all our questions with joy. She shows her classmates what good behavior looks like and is a great friend to them!

Kindergarten Scholar of the Week- Ethan Chen

We want to recognize Ethan for his remarkable academic achievements and exemplary behavior.

Ethan's dedication to excellence in both academics and conduct truly sets him apart.

1st Grade Scholar of the Week- Ximena Alamos

Ximena always exhibits a spectacular performance in the classroom. Ximena is meeting expectations. Following the rules is allowing her learning to succeed. She is always willing to help her classmates improve their learning. Ximena is respectful and polite with teachers and students we are fortunate to have her in the classroom! Good job Ximena keep up the great work!

2nd Grade Scholar of the Week- Abigail De Leon

Abigail is an exemplary student who never needs redirections during class periods. Since the beginning of the year, she has strived to do what's best and always helps her peers around her. In math, she has shown excellent problem-solving skills. She continues to do her absolute best in reading/language and is almost at level 4! In P.E., she is very participative. She always knows what she is doing. She has been consistent with the expectation since day 1. Such a good sport and a good role model in class. Wherein, she consistently shows respect for teachers and peers, which is reflected in her polite and considerate behavior. She is also always accountable and responsible.

3rd Grade Scholar of the Week- Evelyn Contreras Mastranzo

Evelyn is always on task and has not had any problems throughout the whole year. She is always has great participation and is always happy to help her peers when they are struggling. She always meets expectations and demonstrates what it means to be a scholar.

4th Grade Scholar of the Week- Mazzy Dominguez

Mazzy is a model student. She is smart, kind, and always supportive of her peers. Mazzy has a great attitude and tries her best every single day. Her academic performance is outstanding and she really is a pleasure to have in the classroom. Way to go Mazzy, you truly are a STAR!

What is 4th Grade up to?

Even though state testing is over, our 4th graders are still hard at work! They have been working on several different forms of writing. They are working on their RACE format of answering questions, noting what the central idea of a poem or article is, and writing essays that are informative to make people want to learn more about what they are talking about. Look at some of our student work to see how hard they are working!
