A Note from the Principal
Last week we were able to give out our first set of awards to students that have been following our behavior expectations and those that have been at school each day ready to learn. We will continue this weekly. At the end of the month, teachers will nominate a student that has exemplified our character trait of the month - cooperation. These will be given out at the Friday morning assembly.
Benchmark testing is now complete. We will meet in teams this week to discuss building wide data and plan for interventions needed. Teachers will reach out with communication on interventions based on what your child needs.
Picture Day information will be coming home soon. Make sure to look it over if you wish to purchase school pictures. Our picture day will be on September 10, 2024.
The heat index is forecasted to be extremely hot at the beginning of the week. When there is a heat advisory, we will hold indoor recess.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Coate

How do we grade at the elementary level? We use a standards-based report card instead of a report card with letter grades. Elementary report cards are issued at the end of each grading period. They are intended to give an evaluation of the scholastic achievement and work habits of each child. Parents should examine all cards carefully since each child is rated not only on academic progress, but also progress in development of social attitudes and work habits.
We use a 4,3,2,1 system to assess a student's mastery of standards.
4 = Exceeding State and District Standards
3 = Meeting State and District Standards
2 = Approaching State and District Standards
1 = Not Meeting State and District Standards
