St Elizabeth's News
NEWSLETTER | TERM 2 | WEEK 7 | 31 May 2024
Good afternoon parents and caregivers,
This week we certainly felt the full impact of winter and had to pull out the winter jackets! Illness has certainly hit the school this week with a number of staff and students falling sick. if your child is unwell, please keep them home until they are well enough for school and complete the online Absentee Form.
On Thursday, our fabulous and talented Year Three students led the school with the launch of our new social-emotional program ‘URStrong’. The program is a whole school strategy that empowers students with friendship skills to create communities of kindness in our school. Students are already immersed in the program and have begun learning and applying these skills. Thank you to Mrs Golding, Mrs Martino and Mrs Serraino for their creativity! Parents will be invited to participate in an online information session at a later date.
The Year Six students participated in the Northern District Sports Winter Carnival on Thursday, joining other Catholic schools in the northern corridor. The students completed in both Netball and Soccer at Kingsway. Our students were well led by Mr Simon Tomlinson at soccer, working hard together as a team on a busy day, playing ten games and finishing in second place with a record of eight wins, one draw and one loss. In Netball, Jason Hastie and his trusty assistant coach, Nicholas, coached the team to six wins from seven games, finishing in third place overall. The students showed determination throughout the day, playing through the torrential rain, and all of them finished with a smile on their faces. All students displayed a great level of sportsmanship and respect on a fun day. The Year Six class would like to thank all the parents that volunteered their time to coach and support them as well as Mr Rebeiro, Mr Tomlinson and Mrs Clarkson for taking time out of their week to join them. They are already planning for the Spring Carnival where they are looking to represent our school again.
Please save the date for the St Anthony of Padua Parish, Wanneroo will be celebrating their 92nd Annual Festival and Procession which will be held on Sunday, June 16. St Elizabeth’s community will join with St Anthony’s School and the parish to form a celebratory procession starting at 2pm. It would be lovely to have a large sea of red as a strong representation of our school community in the procession.
Finally, a reminder that the school will be closed on Tuesday, June 4 as all staff will be participating in a Staff Professional Learning Day offsite.

We are excited to announce that URSTRONG was officially launched on Thursday by our Year 3 class. URSTRONG is a CEWA endorsed, whole-school strategy that empowers kids with friendship skills to create communities of kindness in schools. Relationships are at the heart of social-emotional wellbeing! URSTRONG gives kids skills, language and self-confidence to be better friends and develop healthier relationships. Using a kid-friendly approach, educators & parents learn a simple framework to support and coach kids towards positive relationships.
Our staff have commenced using the URSTRONG program in Term 1 and 2, and they are excited to begin teaching the "Friendology" curriculum to our students this term.
