Defend My Claim
What Is It?
If your students are having trouble answering an important question, but you need them to take ownership of their thoughts, ask them to defend a claim that may or may not be true about the subject.
How Do I Use this Strategy?
1) Present your students with a "claim" in which students have basic background knowledge.
2) Ask students to "defend my claim" with at least three strong statements.
3) Students can then present their claims to the class/ group.
Try it Out!
After reviewing the strategy, try it out in your classroom and post a picture to the corresponding link on the board. Remember, the more strategies you try, the more chances you have at a PRIZE!!!!!!
