Happenings at the Hive
March 7, 2025
Dear Solon Stinger Families,
The Hive has been buzzing with excitement as we kicked off our One District, One Book initiative last week! Through a series of fun activities and a special assembly, we unveiled this year’s book—Just Harriet. Together, students and staff shared in the joy of reading as we dived into the first chapter, and each night since, we’ve continued this literary adventure following the reading schedule.
Reading brings us together in powerful ways, and we love seeing the connections forming across our school community. Be sure to read further down in this newsletter to see highlights of what we’ve been up to, ways we’re engaging with the story, and some exciting events happening at the Crown Point Library.
We encourage everyone—students, staff, and families—to keep reading and join in the activities and conversations buzzing around The Beehive. Let’s keep the momentum going and make this a truly memorable reading experience!
Yours in learning,
The Solon Robinson Elementary Team

Overalls Day!
Today, our staff joined in the fun of One District, One Book by dressing in overalls! In last night’s reading, Harriet discovered a pair of overalls, and we’re thrilled to see so many students embracing her style today, too. It’s wonderful to see our school community bringing the story to life!

2nd ANNUAL SOLON PTO READ-A-THON
As we wrap up the first week of Read-a-thon, we are blown away by the support we've seen from the community. We exceeded our Fundraising Goal of $20,000 on the 3rd day of Read-a-thon. We didn't anticipate this at all. Thank you so much to everyone who has helped us get to this point!
We are now turning our focus of the Readathon to participation and reading minutes. Read-a-thon is really about getting students reading and creating excitement around it. This past week we had our 1st class with 100% participation. Congratulations to Mrs. Choate's Kindergarten Classroom, every student is signed up to read. We would love to see more classrooms with this type of participation.
Next week, we will announce our reading minutes goal that we want the students to work towards as a whole school. In the meantime, if you need to sign your student up for Read-a-thon, please click here.
