A Message from the Principal
The first day of school is the most important day of the year. It sets the tone, builds excitement, and opens the door to endless possibilities.
Hello, Nursery Road Parents and Guardians!
I couldn't be more excited to welcome you all back for the 2024/25 school year at our fabulous arts magnet school. The hallways have missed your creativity, laughter and energy. Whether you're returning or joining us for the first time, we are thrilled to have you as part of our special community.
This year will be exciting and fun! We have new art projects, performances, field trips, and creative adventures planned. From dance to drama, painting to poetry, reading and math to science and social studies, our talented staff is ready to inspire and teach your children.
Parents, your support and involvement are key to our success. We can't wait to see you at our events, cheering on your young artists, reading with your child and being part of this incredible journey.
Here's to a year filled with creativity and growth. Welcome back, everyone! Let's make some art and memories together! Remember you can always contact the Front Office and Administration if you have questions at 803-476-4300 and we'll help the best we can!
Warm regards,
Principal Fisher
First Day of School Walk Your Child to Class
We know that bringing your child to school on their first day is an important occasion for your family. We welcome parents/guardians to walk their child to class on the first day if you choose. Please be aware of some safety protocols that will be in place if you choose to walk your child to class. The doors open at 7:15 AM and we ask you to exit before the instructional day begins at 7:50 AM.
- All visitors must park their car and enter through Entrance Door 2 to the left of the Front Office Entrance.
- All visitors must go through our Open Gate metal detection system to enter the school and walk their child to class. It is recommended to only bring your car keys, phone and any school supplies.
Each of these measures is being taken to ensure the safety of your child. Thank you for your cooperation in ensuring that Nursery Road is a safe school for all.
Additionally, there will be a large yard sign by the Front Office Entrance for parents/guardians to take a “first day of school picture” of your child!

Classroom Celebration Snack Form 2024-2025
We invite you to utilize our Classroom Celebration Snack Form if you would like to provide snacks for your child’s classroom on special occasions such as birthdays. Please complete this form and submit it to your child’s teacher. The cafeteria will then prepare the snacks for the teacher to pick up. To ensure proper processing, forms must be received at least 15 days prior to the requested date.
We encourage families to order these snacks for classroom celebrations rather than bringing in outside items. All foods must comply with the District Approved Smart Snacks guidelines. While birthday parties are not permitted at school, celebration snacks can be purchased through the cafeteria or sent in from the Approved Snack List. Please note that items not adhering to the approved snack list will not be distributed to the classroom.
Online payment center - www.linqconnect.com
Students may purchase extra items at lunch. Please take advantage of the options to prepay your student's meal accounts for extra purchases. Prepaid accounts help the lunch lines go faster and give students more time to eat, relax, and play. It also gives you the peace of mind of not having to worry about looking for lunch money every day or worry that it might get lost, stolen, or used for other things other than lunch.
Learning starts with good attendance. Help your child succeed in school by building good attendance habits at the start of the school year.
Attendance is a vital factor in student achievement, and any absences from school represents a potential educational loss to the student. #D5EveryDay
Did You Know?
Starting in preschool and kindergarten, too many absences can cause children to fall behind in school.
Missing 10%, or about 2 days each month over the course of a school year, can make it harder to learn to read.
Students can still fall behind if they miss just 1 or 2 days every few weeks.
Being late to school may lead to poor attendance.
Absences and tardiness can affect the whole classroom if the teacher has to slow down learning to help children catch up.
Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school—and themselves. Start building this habit early so they learn right away that going to school on time, every day is important. Eventually good attendance will be a skill that will help them succeed in high school, college and career.
Breakfast and lunch is FREE for all students daily. Breakfast is served daily between 7:15 a.m. and 7:50 a.m. Breakfast will not be served after the instructional day begins.
Classroom Communication
Our school uses ClassDojo to communicate with parents where teachers can instantly share messages, updates and photos from class. Teachers will share a weekly newsletter each Thursday with class and schedule information. Teachers will share their office hours in the Dojo app and 24 hours for responses is expected during the school week. Be sure to sign up to class Dojo at Opening Act with your table!
The goal of iFive Instructional Technology is to use digital resources to strengthen the growth of curriculum and competencies for work, citizenship and life-long learning. District Five will prepare students for academic success and beyond. Teachers will prepare students to demonstrate what they know, by actively promoting communicators, creators, critical thinkers and collaborators of information.
