A Message from the Principal
Dear Cherokee Families,
We had a fantastic first week of school! You could feel the excitement through the school when the students and staff arrived and the halls were filled with smiles, laughter, and catching up on everyone’s summer! The students did a fantastic job transitioning back into school!! This first week we focused on learning what it means to be safe, respectful and responsible across all school settings. Please make sure to review the Cherokee School Wide Behavioral Contract with your child(ren), sign and return it to school.
We look forward to welcoming our newest Cheetahs next week!
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Dr. Cavanaugh

FAN Event: The Science of Motivating Young People
Join Us for a Book Talk
Hosted by Superintendent Matthew L. Montgomery in Conversation with Author David Yeager about his Book 10 to 25: The Science of Motivating Young People
Date: September 11, 2024
Time: 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Location: Lake Forest High School, 1285 N. McKinley Rd.
Yeager unveils the groundbreaking science behind motivating young people aged 10-25 and introduces the “mentor mindset,” a leadership approach that honors adolescents’ need for status and validation. By understanding neurobiological changes and adopting effective communication strategies, adults can help shape empowered, motivated, and well-adjusted young individuals. This essential, research-driven guide is a must-read for anyone committed to positively influencing the next generation.
