2/9/25 TNT Family Newsletter

Dear North Terrace Families,
I hope you enjoyed the highlights of last week's 100th Day of School activities we shared on Instagram! Our teachers organized fun, hands-on learning experiences, and the students had a blast celebrating this big milestone. From dressing up as 100-year-olds to counting, creating, and exploring all things 100, it was a day full of excitement and engagement. Thank you to our amazing teachers for making it so special! Stay up to date on school happenings by following us @northterracetigers!
We've included a variety of information in this week's newsletter. PTO’s Lunch on the Lawn is this Friday—fingers crossed for clear skies!
Now that everyone is back in the groove of our second semester, we also want to remind you that it's a good time to check and update your emergency contact information in the Aeries Parent Portal.
We’ve also got an update on the Middle School Dance—we’re working on a new date, so stay tuned!
Looking for extra support? There's information on academic resources through Oside W.A.V.E., plus an opportunity to get expert advice on parenting and youth mental health at Ask a Therapist Live this Wednesday, February 19th. This free, anonymous event is a great way to get thoughtful guidance on the challenges families face today.
Finally, a quick reminder—there’s no school next week, so enjoy the time away. We can’t wait to welcome everyone back on Monday, February 24th, refreshed and ready to learn!
Yours in Learning,
Principal Hughes
NO SCHOOL NEXT WEEK!
We can't wait to see you all on time and ready to learn when we return Monday, February 24th!
Dressing for the Weather
We had our first bit of rain this week and noticed that some students weren’t quite prepared for the weather. With more rain in the forecast, we want to make sure everyone stays warm and comfortable while still getting outside when playground conditions are safe.
Please help your child make a responsible choice by wearing a jacket with a hood and pants or tights to protect their legs. This little preparation goes a long way in helping students be ready for the day, enjoy outdoor time with their friends, and stay focused and ready to learn when they are back in the classroom. ☔💙 ☔💙
Keep Your Emergency Contact Information Up to Date!
Please take a moment to check your Aeries Parent Portal and ensure all your contact information is current and correct. It’s important that we have the current phone numbers, addresses, and emergency contacts on file.
If you need to make any updates, please stop by the front office with a valid ID.
Keeping your information up to date helps us stay connected and keep your child safe!
Middle School Dance Update—Hang Tight!
Rain may have delayed our fun, and now our favorite DJ has a scheduling hiccup—but don’t worry, we’re on it!
We’re working on a new date to make sure it’s a night to remember.
Stay tuned—we’re hoping to share the details next week as soon as everything is set!

Help Us Bring Lost Items Home!
Our Lost & Found is bursting at the seams! We have teams of awesome students willing to lend a hand and return items—but we need your help!
Please label your child’s jackets, lunchboxes, and water bottles with their name (room number would be great too!). Labeling items can make a big difference in getting lost belongings back where they belong. We appreciate your support in keeping our Lost & Found under control and making returns a breeze!
Education for All: Every Student’s Right to Learn
Every family should know that every child in the Oceanside Unified School District (OUSD) has the Constitutional right to attend school regardless of immigration status. OUSD does not request or record information about a student’s immigration status. Federal and state laws protect student information from disclosure to others, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). OUSD does not permit non-students, including ICE agents, access to OUSD facilities unless they can produce a warrant signed by a federal judge. School administrators will not permit the disclosure of confidential student information without first consulting their attorney to make sure that the information has been properly subject to a federal judge’s warrant.
Families should consult community resources to learn their rights and additional information will be provided to help families access these resources
