Mr. Mauck's Musings
It appears that most of our Juniors and Seniors have gotten some rest after Prom on Saturday and we had a good week. I have included some pictures of the Klubhaus and I would like to thank the PTO for an outstanding Post Prom. There were over 300 students in attendance. Next Friday school will be in session. Friday is Good Friday and unfortunately will have to be used as a snow make up day. Holy Family Church has received permission from the bishop to have a Good Friday Service for those students who would not otherwise be able to make their local parish service that day. I have included their flier. Congratulations to Mya Neighbors and Mr. Jason Ahlbrand the JHS Student and Staff of the Week winners. Thank you both for all you do to make JHS a better school.
Our Spring sports are off to a good start considering the weather. Tonight Softball is at the Castle Invitational and the Boy's Golf team travels to North Posey to face the Vikings and the Central Bears. The Baseball team is at home against Northeast Dubois and tomorrow travels to Creencastle. If you have not seen the new turf field at Ruxer Field you need to come check it out. Both the Girl's and Boy's track teams are off to strong starts with several wins this week. Girl's Tennis picked up a good 4-1 win over what will be a top 20 Memorial team. Check out next week's schedule and come out and support the Cats. The athletic department has scheduled JHS physicals for the evening of May 7th. Details are included below.
On Sunday the JHS Performing Arts Club will perform their last show of the year, "The Outsiders" will be held in the JHS Auditorium at 2 pm on the 13th . Jasper Middle School has three shows for "Nemo". One tonight at 7 and a 3 and 7pm show on Saturday the 12th. JHS Student Council has a new set of class bulletin boards ready for your vote. The Ed Professions and Human Services classes hatched chicks as part of their development activities. Of course the Little Wildcats daycare was involved. Crane Navel Base sent us their monthly STEM newsletter and summer activities. The office of Student Academic Services wanted to remind students and parents that June 30th is the last day to make class changes for next year. If a student has failed a class online credit recovery classes are available. See you councilor for details.
A couple of reminders for our Seniors, a final reminder that your Graduate Profiles are due Monday at 3pm. Also, Please submit your senior slide for graduation. You will want to pull up a blank Google Slides presentation, design one slide for yourself and submit on this Google form linked below. Inside the form you will see examples from last year's seniors to give you an idea of what we are looking for. I'm excited to see all of these from the class of 2025! 2025 Senior Slides Submission Form
Finally, a message from the JHS PTO, THANK YOU to all of the families and businesses who helped make our 2025 Post Prom an amazing success! Your donations of time, money, prizes, candy and food helped us to provide your students with an incredible night of fun! Every year, we strive to create a Post Prom environment that the students can truly enjoy and we could not have done it without YOU!! Your donations created exciting prize drawings, delicious eats and activities that kept everyone entertained. Please know that your generosity is greatly appreciated. If you or your business did not have a chance to help this year, but would be interested in the future, please keep us in mind for next April! Thank you!
Since GJCS is in school on Good Friday, we received permission from the bishop to have a Good Friday Service for those students who would not otherwise be able to make their local parish service that day.
Have a great weekend and Go Cats!

Student and Staff of the Week
This week's Staff of the Week is Mr. Jason Ahlbrand
Thank you for making Jasper High School Great.
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid site is now open for Students and Parents to complete their applications for next year. Any student considering attending college should complete the FAFSA to be eligible for financial assistance. I would encourage all families to fill out a application regardless of need as many colleges require FAFSA completion for all types of assistance. Many schools require submission for competitive non-need based scholarships or grants. The application is much easier than in the past. Click on the link for more information and to complete your application. FAFSA

April is filled with exciting things…..poem in your pocket day will be on april 10. A casual come-and-go “poetry aloud” will occur during 5th period on April 25. Sign up at the circulation desk if you would like to read a poem aloud. The poem may be your own or that of another author.
The drawing for April is to submit your favorite single line from a poem. The drawing will be April 30.
April is also the month when we celebrate our student artists. Stop by to enjoy the works of our exceedingly talented students. Thank you to Mr. Dodd and Mrs. Fleck for their hard work on this program.
Submissions to the arts magazine, The Paws, will be accepted all during the school year this year. Bring in a hard copy to the library, or email a copy of your outstanding work to sburns@gjcs.k12.in.us.
As a heads up, all library books will need to be returned by May 9, this year. There will be no checkouts that day or after, but the booksale will be running if you need a book during finals week.

Sexual Assault Awareness Month
April is a big month for Crisis Connection, Inc. as we bring awareness for Sexual Assault Awareness Month and specifically April 30th, Denim Day. This is a day when millions across the world join together to wear denim with a purpose and support victims of sexual assault. This campaign began after a ruling by an Italian Supreme Court, overturned a rape conviction because the justices felt since the victim was wearing tight jeans, she must have helped the person who raped her remove her jeans, therefore giving consent. The women in the Italian Parliament the following day wore jeans in solidarity with the victim. Crisis Connection, Inc., now asks for your help in raising awareness for sexual assault.
How can you help Crisis Connection, Inc.?
- Share the attached informational flier with your employees.
- Allow employees to wear denim, pay $1 and donate to Crisis Connection, Inc.
- Or simply take a picture of your employees wearing their denim, post it on your social media and tag Crisis Connection Inc. or send them to malea@crisisconnectioninc.org to allow Crisis Connection to post them to show your support.
- Sign up for our quarterly newsletter. https://www.crisisconnectioninc.org/contactus.html
