Club News
Questions about Art? Email Ms. Sharp!
Questions about math team? Email Mrs. Eddy or Mrs. Wallace!
Club meetings are on Thursday afternoons. Each club has a schedule that will be given to members. Because the math team meets weekly, kids can attend another club, like chess, and still attend math team meetings on non-chess days. If students want to do both, we'll make it happen!
Halloween at HMS
Students are welcome to wear Halloween costumes to school for the holiday. The rules are simple:
- No face paint
- No masks
- Nothing gory
- Dress code applies
Outdoor Classroom
Mrs. Roddy won a grant ($12,500) from COWACO RC&D to create an outdoor classroom in the middle of the square! We have some really excited 5th graders! They are planting an herb garden this week, creating a raised bed with fall squash, and are currently growing pumpkins! Thanks to all the 5th-grade teachers for pitching in and making this an awesome experience for our kids! Interested in helping out? Contact Mrs. Roddy!
Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week- Oct. 28-Nov 1st
- Monday- Dress as your favorite famous American
- Tuesday- Wear Camo
- Wednesday- Dress as someone you know is brave!

- Friday- Red, White, and Blue!
- On Friday, November 1, we are saying "Safe Deployment" to Mr. Gunter who is leaving for Cuba and will be gone for the remainder of the year. Go ALL OUT for red, white, and blue day to say THANK YOU to Mr. Gunter and his family for this sacrifice.
Space is cool.
It's been all things SPACE in 6th grade! So why not learn from a retired aerospace engineer from Boeing Defense and a retired electronics technician from the Marshall Space Flight Center? Students also had a ball researching conspiracy theories! Thanks, Mrs. Ruckman! And a huge thanks to our HMS Grandpas and Great Uncles! We love it when you visit!
Meet Mr. Fallin!
Mr. Fallin will be our long-term replacement for Mr. Gunter's deployment. Here's a little about him:
- Masters degree in secondary education
- retired from the Air Force, AL Air National Guard after 23 years of service
- Basketball coach at Hayden and Cleveland
Welcome to HMS, Mr. Fallin!
