Curtis Chronicles
January 16, 2024
Welcome from Curtis Principal, Sonya Pitcock
Cougar families,
We have kicked off the new year with a great start last week! It was great to see the students back with us! We are looking forward to another great semester. This is the semester where we start planning for next year already so students will be getting information about course selection. Please check our counselor website over the next few weeks for parent information and updated presentations as well as frequently asked questions to help you through this process. Here is the link to that page for your reference.
We will host our Middle School Expo Night on January 23 from 6-7:30 in the CMS cafeteria to provide a little info about our school and to give parents a chance to ask questions, talk to teachers and coaches and explore some of our campus clubs. We will have a follow up Coffee with our Counselors on Friday, January 26th from 8:30 – 10:00 in the CMS lounge for parents to ask questions as well. We want to be sure and support you and your family on choosing classes for next year so please plan to attend with us!
We have lots of clubs that are active right now and students are welcome to join anytime. You can find club meetings dates, times and locations on our webpage under the organizations tab. We also have club information in our daily announcements for students in Tracks classes and on the website.
Congratulations to our Staff Member of the Month, Ms. Lori Mulkey and our Teacher of the Month, Mrs. Katie Brown! We appreciate all these ladies do for CMS!
Please feel free to reach out Curtis anytime you have questions or concerns so we can help. We want to partner with our families to support our students.
Sincerely,
Sonya Pitcock

Curtis Middle School - Congratulations to Gaeun Claire Kim!
Congratulations!
Gaeun Claire Kim's Reflections entry, Hope in Music and Art: A Universal Language, has advanced to state-level judging! This is a wonderful achievement as nearly 60,000 students participate in the program annually and less than 3% of those advance to Texas PTA. Final results will be announced on March 15 via the Texas PTA website.
Art allows children the freedom to take risks and explore their creativity. Don't forget to join us Jan. 31 at 7 p.m. EST on National PTA’s YouTube Channel to celebrate the national Reflections winners from the 2022-2023 Show Your Voice! program. During the Showcase, you’ll get to see and hear from a selection of student artists and learn more about their artwork and inspiration. RSVP now so you don’t miss anything.
