8th Grade News
Social Studies: This week, our 8th graders are diving deep into the foundational ideas that shaped our nation's early government. As we wrap up Unit 3, we're reviewing critical learning objectives, including the principles that inspired the Founding Fathers and the challenges faced under the Articles of Confederation, such as the tensions leading to Shays' Rebellion. Students are exploring the distinct structures of state and federal governments between 1776 and 1789, setting the stage for the heated debates at the Constitutional Convention. Our focus extends to understanding the key compromises and the framework of the Constitution, with students analyzing how each part of this historic document fits together to build the backbone of American government. This week’s review will help them connect these principles as they prepare for the Unit 3 Test, scheduled for Wednesday in most classes.
ELA: All students will be working on informational reading and writing this week, while also doing individual teacher chosen assignments.
Elective News

One fun career several are exploring is therapeutic services. The learning objectives for this module include: Recognize the purpose of Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy. Identify the similarities and differences between PT and OT. Describe how Therapists evaluate patients. Identify the purpose of Pediatric Occupational Therapy. Demonstrate treatment exercises prescribed by PT/OT practitioners
Performance and Literary Works: Students are learning about the technical "behind the scenes" action in theater. They still love improv theater! We had a great time with drama circles and wrote our own. Finally we learned about the elements of a play and are beginning to write our own plays!
