Here At JRB

Just a reminder, there is no school next week!
There is Extended Day (T-F), but make sure you have arrangements with them.
Looking Ahead To MCAS
Time sure is flying as we move into our Winter Break next week. With that said, we have planning our upcoming MCAS schedule for our third, fourth, and fifth graders. We are changing a few things this year, as we have noticed a large drop-off in the scores for our second day of work. In previous years we have tested on back to back days, but now we are spacing the assessments out in order to help avoid any sort of tiring. We are excited to see if this change helps our students perform even better! You will find a draft of the MCAS calendars for April and May below. If you believe your child will not be in attendance for one of their sessions, please let us know (nnorth@awrsd.org) so we can plan accordingly.
Are you going anywhere next week?
JRB Gear Now Available For Families
The staff here at JRB has had a chance over the past few years to order Briggs gear to show our pride for JRB. We are now excited to offer it to families too! Use this link, or click the picture above to check out what is there. We will add new items as they are suggested as well. Please take note if items are youth, womens, or universal. Feel free to make suggestions using this form.

What did the ice cream say to the Popsicle?
"You melt my heart!"
On behalf of our volunteers, a heartfelt thank you for the lovely Valentine left on our door for our team. As I am sure you know, it is a wonderful feeling to feel seen and appreciated. Thank you for thinking of us today!
Knock, Knock. Who's there? TOAD. Toad who?T
Have I TOAD you how much we need you lately?
Calling for volunteers....We currently are operating the library on Thursdays and Fridays, but we can use some help. If you have time available to help our small team, please connect with Julie Tamayo at julieanntamayo@gmail.com. On Thursdays and Fridays, we read with our younger students, check in/out books, and keep our library organized. We also offer other learning activities such as our writing challenge. If you are available on other days, we still need you! We could use your support to help add books to our library, attend to tasks that support any of our learning activities, and overall library maintenance.
Congrats to our writing challenge raffle winners Weeks ending 2/7 and 2/14
Our student patrons have the option to participate in our writing challenge... younger students can answer a creative writing prompt related to a fairy tale, mystery, or selection of poetry. In review of our least checked out books, these genres have not been as popular as graphic novels and humorous books this year. That said, in 3 weeks, we have had 114 writing entries submitted for 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade! Congrats to our eager writers- we are all proud of you!

Search for books to return please...February break is a great time to look around the house and in the cars for books that have not been returned. Small notes have been going out to parents (thanks teachers!) and will continue to be going out over the next few weeks.
