🎉 GLOW Dance Party Celebration! 🎉
We are thrilled to share the success of our GLOW Dance Party held the day before spring break! This exciting event was a reward for students who demonstrated outstanding behavior throughout the month of March with our ROAR expectations, earning 90% or higher positive Dojo points.
Our gym was glowing with energy as students danced their hearts out and enjoyed 40 minutes of fun, music, and movement. It was a wonderful way to celebrate their hard work, positive choices, and commitment to our Jefferson ROAR expectations.
A huge thank you to Mr. Schatz, Mrs. Ernst, and Miss Ramsey for their extra help in making the event run smoothly. We’re so proud of our students and grateful for our amazing staff and supportive families who help reinforce positive behavior every day!
Let’s keep the momentum going into MAY—every day is a new chance to Live the Jefferson Way and ROAR!

SEL Snapshopt
Mrs. Fisher (school counselor) is hard at work providing SEL (Social Emotional Learning) lessons in each classroom. Did you know that each classroom receives 80 minutes a month of these SEL lessons? How amazing is that!!!
Have you ever wondered what in the world we are doing in these lessons? We use lots of things to provide these lessons with the main ones being: Quaver, Second Step, Keys of Excellence, and Mind-up. We have worked hard to create a scope and sequence that follows the CASEL (Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning) competencies (self-awareness; self-management; social awareness; relationship skills; responsible decision-making) and have also created assessments for each competency. In May we will finish our final unit of the year, responsible decision-making. We will also touch on some summer safety. Responsible Decision-Making lessons focus on making good choices and evaluating consequences.
If you have any questions please feel free to reach out!

Happy May, everyone!
As we are getting closer to the end of the school year, we are coming up on the final days in library. Our last check out day for all grades will be on May 8th and our final return day will be on May 15th. If your child has any fines from the current or previous library year, they may face a book limitation or no check-out penalty in the library next year. I am currently inventorying books in the library and will hopefully be done by May 8th. Once inventorying is done, I can rule out any overdue books that may have been accidentally shelved on my end. I will send a list to teachers of any students who have overdue books and reach out on Dojo to parents and guardians. I encourage students to look in their classroom, bedrooms, in-between couch cushions, under, over, and everywhere else if they have missing or overdue books. Here's to a great last month of school, thank you!

Physical Education
Physical Education in May will start with us continuing our kickball unit to learn the basics of baserunning, field positioning, and strategy. We then will begin our wiffle ball/t-ball unit that works on throwing, catching, and striking. Hopefully the weather cooperates, and we are able to do some of these activities outside! Our Kindergarten students will also be starting the All-Kids-Bike program this month. I will be sending out more information on that soon.

Art
2nd grade artists are creating values with colors by controlling how hard or soft they color on their paper. Third grade artists are working on printing with bubble wrap and making Echo Drawings. Fourth graders were learning about printmaking and creating their own stamps made from styrofoam. Fifth grade artists are learning about Pysanky Eggs and creating their own Pop Art based off the screen prints of Andy Warhol.
