Child Care Weather Watch guides our Outdoor Playtime
ReadyRosie
Learning Outcomes: Phonological Awareness, Fine Motor, Executive Functioning
Play this game to help your child listen to the first, middle, and last sounds in a word. Imitate a drummer and use kitchen utensils to slowly tap each sound (s-u-n). Then try the drumroll as you blend the sounds together (SUN!). Let your child try a different word!
Why It's Important
Children who can blend and segment spoken sounds will have an easier time when it comes to reading and spelling words.
Not Ready Yet
Allow your child to say the sounds and words with you. You may hold the child's hand to provide support in drumming the sounds.
Mrs. LaPlante is here to help.
The best way to reach me is through the Remind app. You can call too. Please send me updated cell numbers to stay connected with all things Pre-K related. Thanks!
