We are encouraging all students, staff, and community to wear orange to send a visible message to promote kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. Visit https://www.pacer.org/bullying/nbpm/unity-day.asp for more information about Unity Day.
Superintendent and Student Board Member Visit
Dr. Smith, our dedicated superintendent, and Ms. Hannah Heisler, the esteemed Student-Member-of-the-Board, visited LMDES last Friday.
The focus of the visit was to engage with our 5th grade students in meaningful conversations about how SMCPS and LMDES HEAR by being Here, Engaged, Approachable, and Renewed. Our students had the opportunity to share their insights on what makes LMDES unique and how, as a school, we embody the principles of HEAR.
Thank you for visiting, Dr. Smith and Ms. Heisler! We enjoyed our time with you.

School Store Fundraiser
Monday, October 14, we start a SchoolStore program to help our school raise money toward our PBIS Dolphin Dollar incentives for students. Your student will view this video and wear a lanyard home, telling how the program works. Please read over the information describing how you can participate. Your students will earn a participation prize (see photo) when they return their lanyard to school with the prize code added, and they can earn more great prizes when your family and friends help our school raise money. So remember to send the lanyard with the prize code added back to school. Thank you for your support!
Red Ribbon Spirit Week
National School Lunch Week
To recognize the National School Lunch Program, serving nearly 30 million children each day, St. Mary’s County Public Schools will celebrate National School Lunch Week from October 14-18, 2024. The fun and creative campaign theme, “School Lunch Pirates: Find Your Treasure,” highlights the importance of a healthy school lunch to a student’s success both in and out of the classroom.
Research shows children are getting their healthiest meals at school. National School Lunch Week will highlight the nutritious foods available daily at St. Mary’s County Public Schools. This week, St. Mary’s County Public Schools Department of Food & Nutrition Services will bring back a kid-favorite, shrimp poppers, and have pirate-themed activities for students in the lunchroom.
SMCPS Food Services is Hiring!
Breakfast costs $1.75; lunch costs $3.00.
Your student may qualify for free or reduced-price meals.
Please complete the meal benefit application.
