A Message from the Administrative Team
Dear SJRCS Families,
We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for your incredible generosity during our Day of Giving. Thanks to your kindness and support, we raised over $68,400! Your contributions make a meaningful impact on our school community, and we are truly blessed to have such dedicated families.
We are also excited to announce that the following homerooms, which achieved 100% participation based on the donations made in their support, will enjoy an out-of-uniform day on Monday, March 24th: Mrs. Pessagno, Mrs. LaPier, Mrs. Parks, Mrs. Spatola, Mrs. White, and Mrs. Brigner's classes.
Thank you once again for making this event such a success. This will help complete the third phase of installing the badging system on the doors other than classrooms.
This week, we also came together for a beautiful Ash Wednesday Mass, marking the beginning of Lent. It was a wonderful opportunity for reflection, prayer, and renewal as we prepare our hearts for this sacred season.
As a friendly reminder, please be respectful of our neighboring community on Sunlight Drive during drop-off and pick-up. We kindly ask that you:
- Do not block driveways or mailboxes.
- Keep children out of the street for their safety.
- Leave space for residents to pass through.
- Be courteous and respectful to our neighbors.
Lastly, a reminder for 6th-grade parents: Our field trip to North Bay is next week! Please check the Newsletter for the packing list and drop-off instructions to ensure your child is fully prepared for this exciting adventure.
Thank you again for your generosity and cooperation. Your support helps make our school a wonderful place for all!
In the spirit of Lent,
Mrs. Kim Hanner, Principal
Mrs. Ann Coughlin, Assistant Principal
Mrs. Christine Bruce, Assistant Principal
Mrs. Noemi Soto, Dean of Students

ACRE Testing - Tuesday, March 11th
March 11th - ACRE Testing 5th and 8th Grade during Religion Class
The Assessment of Catholic Religious Education (ACRE) Exam is designed to assess the knowledge and understanding of Catholic faith, beliefs, attitudes, behaviors, and practices among students. It provides a comprehensive evaluation of the student's religious education and helps teachers and administrators identify areas where they need to focus their efforts to improve the quality of religious education.
The ACRE exam is divided into two levels: Level 1 and Level 2. The Level 1 exam is given to fifth-grade students, whereas the Level 2 exam is taken by eighth and ninth-grade students. The questions on the exam cover a wide range of topics, including the sacraments, prayer, Church history, social justice, and morality.
The score of a student on the ACRE exam is determined by the percentile they rank in comparison to other Catholic school students who took the same level of the exam. This means that a student's score reflects how well they performed relative to their peers. The exam results provide valuable feedback to both the students and their teachers, helping them identify areas where they need to improve.
Overall, the ACRE exam is an essential tool for Catholic schools to assess the effectiveness of their religious education programs. By measuring students' knowledge and understanding of Catholic faith, beliefs, attitudes, behaviors, and practices, the exam helps schools ensure that their students are receiving a high-quality religious education that prepares them for a life of faith and service.

Please click here to learn more about Google Classroom, including how to sign in and monitor your student's account.
Late Pick Up & Late Pick Up Fee
It is important for parents to follow the designated drop-off and pick-up times for their children at school. The school cannot take responsibility for any supervision or accidents that occur before 7:50 a.m. or after 3:15 p.m. If a parent is unable to pick up their child on time, enrolling in the school's aftercare program is a helpful option. However, instances of tardiness will result in an additional late pick-up fee. If the student is participating in a supervised activity outside of school hours, specific arrangements must be made for drop-off and/or pick-up at the designated times. Please value and respect the school staff, teachers, and administration by being punctual and adhering to the designated drop-off and pick-up times. See page 32 of the handbook for more information.
Walker & Bike Rider Registration
Students in Grades 3 - 8 who are designated as walkers or bike riders should live within a two-mile distance of the school. They will require the written permission of a parent or guardian and the school administration to be released with these groups. Please click here to register your child as a walker or bike rider.
Parking at SJRCS
If you are visiting the school during the school day or for evening school events, we ask that you park in the Pk-3rd grade parking lot. Please do not park in any of the numbered spots as those are reserved for teachers and staff. We also ask that you not park in the spots on the side of the school reserved for the Parish Offices.
Tip Line
This tip line is offered to expand the means for students, staff, and the community to come forward if they are aware of threats, possible self-harm by a student or other behavior that could adversely impact a particular school community.
