Halloween Parent Information
The Lincoln-Hubbard School Halloween Parade will be held this year on Thursday, October 31st. The parade will be held on school grounds on the blacktop/field behind the school. Please join us at 1:45 behind the school for the parade! IN THE EVENT OF RAIN / INCLEMENT WEATHER - THERE WILL BE NO PARADE - STUDENTS AND STAFF WILL REMAIN INDOORS. CONFIRMATION EMAIL WILL BE SENT THAT MORNING
IMPORTANT - We will follow a single session schedule on this day. Children may go home at lunchtime to eat and change into their costumes at 12:30 pm and return to school by 1:30 pm. For those children staying at school, lunch will be available in the cafeteria as normal. They will change into their costumes once they are done eating. Please keep in mind there are no crossing guards during this timeframe.
If your child is going home for lunch:
- Parents MUST SEND A NOTE to the classroom teacher indicating that the child will be going home for lunch. A note must be sent if your child is going home with another adult. • Again - ALL STUDENTS grades 1-5 (unless staying at school) must have a note if they are going home for lunch at 12:30.
- Students will be “passed off” to a parent or designated guardian at 12:30 at their normal dismissal locations. Students will not be released unaccompanied to walk home.
- Upon their return to school at 1:30 p.m., your child should report to their regular assigned entrance doors where they will be met by their classroom teachers. Teachers will take a careful count of all students to assure that all have returned.
If your child is remaining at school/having lunch at school:
- Lunch will be served and students can remain at school to eat, enjoy some recess and get ready for the parade.
- If you do not feel the need for your child to eat and change at home, your child should bring (not wear) his or her costume to school.
- Children who eat lunch in school (see school menu) will be given the opportunity to change into their costumes after lunch and just before 1:30.
Return to school and start of parade:
- Return to school: 1:30 - Teachers will meet students at line up locations
- Parade @ 1:45 (FAVORABLE WEATHER ONLY)
- Halloween parties: 2:10 - 3:00 (students, teachers, and parent volunteers who have signed up for the parties in advance - so we can ensure manageability)
- Per district policy, there will be NO FOOD ITEMS or EXCHANGES OF CANDY at our class parties!
While we understand the importance of pictures, the memories that they hold and the excitement of sharing them with others, please refrain from posting images on any social media that may include other people's children. The parade is always a great treat. We ask your help in assuring that the parade route is clear for students to pass. Following the parade, students and teachers will return to their classroom for their Halloween parties. Only parents/guardians who have arranged to help the teachers and are on the approved list should be entering the building at that time, through the main entrance of LH.
We are looking forward to seeing you on Thursday, October 31st, at 1:45 pm.
VERY IMPORTANT COSTUME GUIDELINES – PARENTS PLEASE NOTE!
The district has a Zero Tolerance Policy. All weapons are banned from the school. The definition of weapons includes toy or imitation guns, swords, knives, arrows or anything else that can be perceived as a weapon. Please omit these items from Halloween costumes. Plan for costumes that are appropriate, uncomplicated, will allow your child to see and move without any difficulty and that are appropriate for the elementary school environment. This reflects the district’s commitment to “The Zero Tolerance for Guns Act” from the Safe Schools Initiative.
