We are excited to announce that our middle school science classes will be piloting a new program called TWIG, designed to provide a hands-on, engaging learning experience. Each grade will focus on a specific science area: 6th grade on Earth and Space, 7th grade on Life Science, and 8th grade on Physical Science. TWIG emphasizes real-world investigations and STEM career explorations, helping students connect science to their everyday lives. The program aligns with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and includes 3-D performance assessments to evaluate both knowledge and application. We look forward to keeping you informed about your child's progress throughout this exciting year of exploration.

Meet Mrs. Danielle Apice, 7th and 8th Grade ELA and English Language Development Teacher! This is Mrs. Apice's 13th year in education; she's been at KMS for ten.
Danielle shared, "I really love the students at KMS and my role as ELD teacher. Each year for me has been very different. The classes made of students with very limited English are so wide-eyed. I love watching them having new experiences and sharing their background with me. The classes make of students who are still developing their English have big transformations throughout the year. The beginning of the year looks so different than it does when it comes to a close. I am always so proud of my students!"
Outside of school, Mrs. Apice spends most of her time with her family on their hobby farm in New Jersey with two dogs who love to chase each other and their chickens. Her son, 5 years old, loves making pizzas and having movie nights on Fridays. She fills her remaining free time with reading, especially thrillers and mysteries.
