Principals Message
As we finalize preparations for next week's prize giving ceremonies, I am reminded of the whakataukī:
"Seek out distant horizons and cherish those you attain."
All students will be acknowledged for their learning progress throughout the year. Therefore, it would be great if you are available to attend your child or mokopuna’s prize giving this year.
Nau mai hoki mai Mrs Te Pou. Welcome back to your paradise.
We are pleased to formally welcome you back to Te Kura O Te Pāroa. Your rejuvenation and fresh insights after your study leave are truly inspiring. We eagerly anticipate your leadership and the enriching activities you have planned for 2025, particularly regarding the Treaty of Waitangi and the use of tools that will improve teaching and learning programs that will influence student achievement.
We are also pleased to announce that Ngamihi Moses has been appointed to the teaching position in our Auraki whānau. We are confident that her skills and experience will greatly enhance our students' learning experiences. We look forward to her joining our dynamic whānau.
As this will be our final school-wide newsletter for 2024, I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to the entire Te Kura O Te Pāroa community, including our incredible staff, dedicated students, and supportive Board of Trustees members. Your unwavering encouragement, collaboration, and commitment have made my tenure as Acting Principal this year both rewarding and successful. It has been a privilege to work alongside such a vibrant and passionate group of individuals, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to grow and develop my practice in this role. I have thoroughly enjoyed this journey and look forward with great anticipation to continuing to serve our school as Deputy Principal in 2025.
Thank you all for making this experience so memorable and meaningful.

MOE regarding changes regarding attendance in 2025
Attendance
Here is an update from MOE regarding changes regarding attendance in 2025
- Schools must use the revised attendance codes to record daily student attendance data from Term 1 2025.
- Daily attendance must be reported every day schools are open for instruction, from Term 1 2025. Specified kura will be required to report daily attendance data from mid-2025.
- Schools are encouraged to respond to every absence and address barriers to attendance and learning. Schools can explore the draft STAR (stepped attendance response) framework available on our website and consider how they might adapt this for their own context.
