It has been a great first week! Although this has been an unusual start to the school year, we have been so excited to see our Wrightsboro Cool Cats during synchronous learning each morning at 8:30.

Reminders & Updates:

• Each day your child's teacher has synchronous instruction from 8:30-10:00 on Zoom. Please contact your child's teacher if you still need a link.
• Your child should log in on his/her learning management system each day to view and complete assignments. K-3 students are using Seesaw and 4-5 students are using Google Classroom. Attendance is taken based on daily participation and grades are being taken on assignments.
• Thank you to everyone who picked up your child's beginning of year materials. If you still haven't gotten them, please come by the school. It is very important that every child has their materials to be successful during remote learning.
• New Hanover County Schools Technology Department is working to move devices between schools to provide electronic devices for remote learning to all students at every school site. We appreciate your patience as the district works to get more devices to Wrightsboro. We will call individual families as devices become available for those on the waitlist.

I am Stephanie Tew and will be serving as the School Library Media Specialist at Wrightsboro Elementary School. After growing up in Wilmington, NC, I graduated from East Carolina University in 1987 with a degree in Elementary Education and Reading Certification and began teaching third graders in Pitt County. I earned my Masters degree in Elementary Education from East Carolina University in 1989 while teaching. After teaching third graders in Pitt County, I was trained in Reading Recovery then moved to New Hanover County in 1998 to teach first graders and then third graders. I earned my National Board Certification in 1999 and have twice renewed. I earned my NC AIG add-on license and served as the Gifted Education Specialist at Forest Hills Global Elementary School then as the Instructional Coach. I am looking forward to a great year of learning and growing while supporting students, teachers and parents as Wrightsboro Cool Cats' Media Specialist! Let us all strive to explore media that mirrors our lives so that we can learn more about ourselves, media that provides windows to others' lives so that we can learn more about the world, and create harmony between the two. I am Presha Winner and I am an Exceptional Children's Teacher at Wrightsboro Elementary. I am originally from a small town in Northwest Alabama. I attended the University of Alabama with a degree in Mild Learning Behavioral Disorders (Prk-12). I taught at an institution for one year in Tuscaloosa, AL for children with behavioral disorders. My husband and I then moved to Muscle Shoals, Alabama where I taught for 12 years. I taught all disabilities and subjects for two years at the high school level and remaining ten at the elementary level. My husband was offered a job here in Wilmington, so we relocated to this area where he has family at Carolina Beach. I taught in Brunswick County for 6 years in the behavior class. I then took a job in New Hanover at Bellamy Elementary to be closer to home while also adding a newborn baby girl to our family. I was there at Bellamy for five years. I am now here at Wrightsboro and looking for a great adventure here with the Cool Cat Staff! I am outgoing, love being with my family, and being outside mowing grass. We only live once so go ahead and take the trip and eat the cake. Life is an adventure! That is my motto! We like to be at the beach, take rides in our jeep, and be together as a family as much as we can. We embrace this transition to Wrightsboro with open arms and are ready for a great year of learning, laughter, and lasting memories.

Ms. Perry is our newest TA on the 1st Grade Team. She will be working alongside Ms. T and Mrs. Johnson, while also providing assistance to Mrs. Blue in 5th Grade. Ms. Perry served as our long-term substitute in The Media Center, during the 2019-2020 school year. Ms. Perry has been a substitute teacher in Duplin Co. (her hometown!), Sampson Co., Halifax Co., and Pender Co. She was also a Pre-K TA for 3 years. Ms. Perry has been working with children since she was 15 years old (she would spend her summers working at her mom's daycare.) Ms. Perry loves cleaning and singing. She is very creative and loves bright colors.

I am excited to be joining the pre-k team this school year. I will be working alongside Ms. Diemer! I have worked in childcare facilities as well as in the public school sector in my past travels. I have always had a passion for children and after many trials with children ages birth to 12 years of age, and working with children with exceptionalities, I found a passion in pre-k. I worked in an inclusion pre-k room that served typical and atypical students and gained an admiration for the pre-k program. I recently left a childcare facility where I was the lead teacher in one of the pre-k rooms to spend more time with my children. In all I have spent 9 years working with children. I have 4 beautiful children - 3 girls and a boy!!! They are ages 9 ,2, 1, and 1. Yes, I have twins. My passion for children goes beyond the classroom. I enjoy working with children, going to the beach, reading and learning. I am excited to work at Wrightsboro this year.

Shanta Daniels is our new head custodian! Before working at Wrightsboro, he worked at J.C. Rowe and Castle Hayne Elementary for 2 years each. He spent 17 years working at Lowes Home Improvement. He started there as a baby and left as an old man. When Mr. Daniels isn't hanging out with his two kids (8 and 13), he loves to play basketball!
