This is our Stoner Prairie student and staff community!
This photo was taken from the rooftop on a beautiful fall day! This is Stoner Prairie and it continues to be an honor to lead this amazing school year. It was wonderful seeing so many families in our building over the last two weeks as we met for Fall conferences. Thank you to our amazing PTO for providing catered dinner from El Pastor on 10/10. This week our teachers will enjoy a break on Thursday and Friday. I will be in the building both days and available by email if needed.
Please note that as we are welcoming cooler temperatures, it is important to include your scholar's name on all jackets/hats/boots, etc. Also, our lost and found continues to be located in the hallway near the entry of our school and scholars should be encouraged to check it regularly. If you notice specific clothing missing, please remind your scholar to check out our lost and found.

Stoner Prairie Elementary PTO News
It was another amazing Book Fair! 195 books were given to classrooms, 53 scholarship books were taken home, books for Battle of the Books were purchased, and a love of reading for all our students was nurtured. Thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated, and stopped in to shop!
Teachers and staff enjoyed a delicious meal from El Pastor during conferences on behalf of the PTO. Supporting the PTO means supporting our teachers and staff. Thank you!
A rainy Friday the 13th meant a change of plans! Instead of freezies and extra recess to celebrate the Fun Run each classroom was given popcorn to celebrate at a time that works for them.
Dine out night at Hop Haus is 10/25 from 2-7 pm. Grab some dinner, some merch or do some early holiday shopping and get some gift cards. 10% goes to the Stoner Prairie PTO.
Kick start your holiday shopping with the Rusty Dog Coffee and Tea Sale. Online sales will run from Friday, November 3rd through Sunday, November 19. Pick up dates in December to come. And this year we have cocoa!
Stoner Prairie PTO is excited to invite you to our Gratitude Glow Night on November 10th from 5-7pm. Join us at the school for a heartwarming evening of creativity and community spirit! Stoner Prairie scholars will be decorating luminaries with the things they are grateful for, showcasing their creativity and thankfulness, and families are invited to take a stroll through their lighted path. After enjoying the luminary walk, head to the gym for a glow dance with glow sticks and music! Please note that this is a chance for our families to come together and celebrate our scholars and is not a drop off event. We hope to see you there!

It is Fall break - a time when you may be cleaning closets as you get ready for warm weather clothing. Our nurses are asking for donations. If you have any of the following, please drop off at the office, labelled "FOR NURSE." These are specific requests:
-BOYS UNDERWEAR: Sizes 4/5 through 14/16- Used is great!
-GIRLS UNDERWEAR: Sizes 4/5 through 14/16 Socks & Underwear- Used is great!
-KIDS SOCKS: Sizes 4/5 through 14/16 Socks (any style)- Used is great!
-KIDS TOPS/TEES: Sizes 4/5 through 14/16 Socks (any style)- Used is great!
-BOYS PANTS: XS-XXL: Drawstring/elastic and/or PJ pants needed for sizing compatibility (smaller holes, worn knees or “play clothes” condition is acceptable!)
-GIRLS PANTS: XS-XXL: Drawstring/elastic, and/or PJ pants, leggings needed for size inclusivity (smaller holes, worn knees or “play clothes” condition is acceptable!)

When in doubt, donate it!
The Health Assistant, Ms. Gretchen, hand sorts and puts away clean garments for kids needing clothes to change into, and anything we can’t use will get donated or properly recycled as a textile.

Star Reports are Coming 11/6
We have been working to complete Star testing this week. In the week ahead, we will be working to print individual reports and will share specific results with individual families via backpack mail on 11/6/23. Thank you for your patience.
Interested in a part-time job that is the same hours as your kids?
Stoner Prairie is seeking a part-time educational assistant (28.8 hours/week). Duties include supporting teachers by leading small group classroom instruction, cafeteria & recess supervision, clerical, and academic support for students. Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP) and Theory of Action (ToA)
The last newsletter shared that every school in the Verona Area School District has a School Based Leadership Team (SBLT). This team is responsible for writing and implementing our school's Continuous Improvement Plan (CIP). The CIP includes goals for the school year as well as strategies and plans that support the school in meeting these goals. In addition to the CIP, the school is also guided by a Theory of Action (ToA). This one-page document serves as a summary of the more extensive school CIP. These documents are reviewed quarterly by members of the SBLT to reflect and document progress toward goals in the prior quarter to inform work for the quarter ahead. These plans are completed across all VASD schools.
An example of the strategies that are defined in the CIP includes plans for the first two weeks of school to support all scholars learning our classroom and school-wide expectations. We completed walk through data collection the last week of September and our results were impressive - here is a summary:
- 100% of students surveyed knew what an orange vest meant for supervision
- 100% of students in grades 1 to 5 knew what the zones are
- 100% could name at least 1 school-wide expectation
- 95% of classrooms had a Take a Break Space in the room
- 95% of students could name a fun fact about their teacher
- 88% of classrooms had classroom expectations posted for their scholars
- 88% of scholars had a Buddy Classroom and knew when it would be used
These results met our goal to support a successful launch to the 2023-24 school year! In celebration Principal Seidl provided pizza dinner for staff on 10/5.

Patrols are training this week!
This week we met with our fifth graders about greatness patrol. ALL fifth graders have applied for a wide variety of jobs and will be trained this week. Starting next Monday, 10/23, look for patrols with safety belts helping us greet scholars and support a safe, respectful, kind Stoner Prairie!
A District Message Regarding Halloween
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We hope this message finds you well. We want to inform you of our school's approach to Halloween celebrations.
While Halloween is a holiday enjoyed by many, we acknowledge that it is not celebrated by all of our students or their families. In consideration of the diverse backgrounds and beliefs within our school community, we have made the decision not to observe Halloween at school or during the school day. As a result, we kindly request that students refrain from wearing Halloween costumes or masks to school. This measure is in place to ensure that all students feel included and comfortable, regardless of their cultural or personal preferences.
We appreciate your understanding and support in fostering an inclusive and respectful environment for all of our students. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us.

Breakfast and Lunch Available for November 3 (Asynchronous Day)
Stoner Prairie Families,
VASD is making breakfast and lunch available on our upcoming asynchronous learning day on Friday, November 3. Meals will be sent home with students on the afternoon of Thursday, November 2. If you are interested in a meal for one or more of your students please click this link and fill out the form accordingly. Menu items and prices are available using this link as well. Food Service account balances will be impacted the same as they would for in-person service like a typical day of school. Please contact child.nutrition@verona.k12.wi.us if you have any questions.
