K-8 Campus Updates
Greetings Grizzly Families,
Congrats to all of our 2nd Quarter All A Honor Roll recipients who received some sweet treats from Mrs. Whitfield on Friday. We are so proud of our Grizzly Scholars and of the hard work they are putting into their classroom daily!! Keep up the Amazing Work Grizzlies!! See the lists below to recognize these amazing kids!
We are continuing this week with our last set of Check Ins. We will be analyzing this data to reteach and remediate the skills that students have not yet mastered prior to the end of grade testing. Please help your student at home by having them read each and every night. Reading sets the foundation for all subject areas. Thank you for your assistance with helping students understand and prioritize their school work and academics here at CGS.
As always thank you for your support and have a great week! #GrizzlyPride
Mrs. Spencer
K-8 Principal

High School Student Advising Information and Opportunities:
-
Scheduling/Advising
We are continuing with scheduling/advising appointments March 17th-April 11th. Parents and students will receive an email to select a time to meet to draft their schedule for the 2025-2026 school year. If you would like to meet with your student during their appointment, please select a time that works best for both of you. Parents may participate via phone or Zoom/Google Meet while the student is in person.
Please review the 2025-2026 CGS Course Catalog for descriptions of CGS course offerings.
Through our appointments, we discovered misunderstandings of the guidelines presented at the February Board of Directors meeting. To clarify:
The guidelines are specific to the Career and College Promise program.
ACC provides the opportunity for 9th and 10th grade students to participate in the CCP program that has two pathway options of College Transfer and Career Technical Education (CTE); however, CGS has focused on the College Transfer pathway which is limited to our 10th graders who are academically gifted in math and reading and meet the additional requirements of ACC for participation in the program.
CGS continues to offer honors level and AP courses for qualifying students.
North Carolina Virtual Public School (NCVPS) offers high school courses that are taken via the internet. These courses require a student to learn online, independently, and demonstrate self-motivation to excel. Student participation in NCVPS courses is reserved for acceleration and instances where a required course for graduation is not available on our campus.
As we continue to work with families and students during our advising/scheduling appointments, we realize that minor revisions for clarification within the guidelines are needed. An amendment will be presented once revisions are complete.

Summer Learning Program- 2nd-8th Grade Students
CGS Parents,
This summer we will be offering remediation and the re administration of our End of Grade Exams for students in Grades 3rd-8th. Although, we really hope to have ALL of our students show proficiency on our End of Grade Exams, we know that sometimes students may need "one more opportunity" to retake the assessment after intensive review/remediation. This option will be offered to some of our students after the completion of the EOGs. This will be an invite only option and will be targeted to those students who were "really close!" to making a level 3 on their EOGs. The dates and times of the Summer Learning Program are listed below. We will let you know via invite if your student would meet the criteria for the program and if it will be an option for them at the end of the school year.
Dates/Times:
- May 29th- June 12th
- Daily 7:40 A.M. until 3:00 P.M.
- Students who are not in danger of failing a subject area but who scored a level of "Not Proficient" on their end of grade exams in Math or ELA.
