"S.W.A.R.M. Together!"
Principal's Update
Yellow Jacket Community,
Teaching, learning, and the "Total Yellow Jacket Experience" continues every week at SAHS. We always have information to share and something to celebrate and highlight!
Items of note:
- We had three students achieve "First time ever at SAHS" achievements last week.
- In track, Cole Swesey set a new school record by becoming the first Yellow Jacket to run 1:57:53 or faster in the 800 meters!
- In wrestling, Trinity Wanamaker and Taylor Pelchat became the first females from SAHS to ever qualify for the FHSAA State Wrestling Championships. Trinity finished 1st place at Regionals and Taylor finished 3rd place. Both will be competing at the state championships in Kissimmee in two weeks!
- Tomorrow (2/25) we are administering the ACT College Reportable exam to all Juniors.
- We will be allowing open parking to all Juniors on 2/25.
- Additionally, 2/25 is a "Learn from Home" day for all non-Juniors. Assignments will be posted in Schoology for all non-Juniors.
- School Safety
- In light of this morning's lockdown at Landrum Middle School, it is important to remind our community that the safety of our students will always be our number one priority. SAHS/SJCSD collaborate and communicate closely with SJSO at all times and we appreciate their partnership. We will always error on the side of caution when making decisions and appreciate the phone calls we receive when situations arise.
- Keeping with safety, I'd like to remind everyone of our single point of entry/exit procedures that have been communicated throughout the school year in our back to school newsletter, "Traditions Assemblies", "Single School Culture" review days in classes, and our SAHS Student Code of Conduct. Students may only enter or exit school through the front office/lobby doors during school hours (9:20am - 3:55pm). Violations of this tradition result in out of school suspension. We appreciate our students following this tradition to keep our campus as secure as possible during school hours.
- Finally, this morning we honored 8 students from our ACCESS Classes with Academic Letters for earning at least a 3.85 GPA. Congratulations to the following students: Michael Anderson, Jamal Hendrix, Alfie Rosario, Amiyah Stevenson, Alexis Jones, Alexis McHenry, Ricardo Metellus.
Together,

Black History Month Cultural Celebration
On Wednesday, students during all lunches were invited to attend "The Melting Pot - Celebrating African American Cultures". This was a cultural celebration sponsored by Kaleidoscope, our SAHS Black Student Union, which included food tasting, crafts, music and games. We are very thankful for the community volunteers that cooked and served cultural food for our students, and to our Black Student Union for making the event a reality.
