September 27, 2024 - Let's Give 'Em Pumpkin to Talk About
Sept. 27, 2024 - Let's Give 'Em Pumpkin to Talk About
Is it too soon for our PTO transition to pumpkin season? Nah, never. Our PTO October calendar went home in backpacks today and is at the bottom of the email.
But, let's take a second and remember September. It was a lot. We got back into school routines, adjusted to new pickup procedures, and had our first large community event. Over 100 LT families attended movie night, and we want to extend a HUGE thank you to our new Event Committee Co-Chairs Laurie Burkitt and Lea Laman for pulling it off with their team of volunteers. Additional thanks to Caroline Sainsard for capturing this amazing image of movie night -- complete with the sunset and Capitol dome -- from G Street.
Our movie night volunteers include the AV Squad (Steve Kenney, Matt Hock, Roger Gordon, Sheku Riddle), Balloon Crew (Caitlin LaRocco, Allison Warren, Renee Dias, Emily Wood), Cleanup Crew (Dave Laman, Gavin Clarke, Jordan Baugh), and an army of people who helped with pizza, popcorn and concessions (Maria Malagon, Angeline Spain, Emma Miniscalco, Megan Lynch, Sol Black, Jamaal McKnight, Barbra Kim, Emily Glodzik, Beth O'Connor, Sandy Stilwell, Mallory Domingue, Sheila Moynihan, Alexis King, Rachel Pollock, Devi Rao, Heather Martin, Rebecca Wisecup, Lauri Andrews, Dana Grosser-Clarkson).
As always, please reach out to either Angelle (pto@ludlowtaylor.org) or Chris (ptopresident@ludlowtaylor.org) with any questions, comments, or concerns. Copying both of us on any email will enhance our ability to respond promptly.

Coffee Talk with Principal Miller (10/4 at 8:30 am)
Have a question for Principal Miller? Come to this.
Principal Miller will be outside the 7th Street entrance at 8:30 am for conversations with parents and coffee from the PTO. The plan is to do this the first Friday of each month.
Hey -- Didn't this used to be called Coffee & Donuts? Yes, but we don't want kids fighting over who got donut holes, so we're pivoting to Coffee Talk. Also, it has better memes.

LT Has the Best Teachers
You know what warms our hearts? LT teachers and staff supporting students in school and out.
We'd like to give a special shout out to Ms. Jackson, Ms. Sanchez, and Mr. Parker for joining us on the field at movie night last week.
Then last Saturday at the H Street Festival, Coach E, Mr. Cooper, Ms. Henderson, Ms. Metheny, Ms. Sanchez, Ms. Monet, and Ms. Hannah were among the many LT supporters cheering on the Dancing Stars as they took the stage. Thanks for cheering on our LT performers!
See an LT teacher or staff member going the extra mile to support the community? Let's us know -- we'd love to shout it out.
Your PTO Dollars at Work
BOOKS, BOOKS, BOOKS!
You've entrusted the PTO with funds to support LT students, and that's exactly what we're doing. We're going to start highlighting some of these purchases for you. The PTO recently invited our librarian (Mr. G) and ELA Instructional Coaches (Ms. Penn and Ms. Toussaint) to make Scholastic Wish Lists. Because of your generous support, we purchased everything they asked for! Be on the lookout for new additions to the library and the resources Ms. Penn and Ms. Toussaint use with our kiddos. (Don't worry, we bought more than what's pictured here!)
It's Field Trip Season!
**Get your DCPS volunteer clearance if you want to be a chaperone!**
The ECE classes braved the weather today for their very first field trip, the annual sojourn to the National Zoo. Check the LT Instagram for cuteness overload coming your way soon. Over the course of the next month, ALL grade levels will be taking a field trip to Cox Farms and plenty of other field trips are in the works for the remainder of the school year. You MUST complete the DCPS Volunteer Clearance process if you want to chaperone a field trip.
