AUL Wolfpack Watch is an academic accountability system designed to ensure that scholars are on track to graduate. Parents/guardians will receive a letter from AUL with the following information if your scholar is placed on Wolfpack Watch:
Your student has been identified as a scholar who would benefit from the Wolfpack Watch. The wolfpack watch will monitor students attendance, grades, and overall behavior at school in efforts to support students academic success. The components of the wolfpack watch are as followed:
Concerns:
Attendance rate for your student_____________% as of ______________________________
Grades (Attached you will find Hexters 1 and 2 grades)
Individual Learning Plan (ILP: Attached)
Interventions:

IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL LEE
Dear AUL Denver Community,
AUL Denver is committed to providing equitable and inclusive environments where all our students feel safe and socially and emotionally supported. With the potential change of federal policies, students, families, and staff who are undocumented are experiencing unease and uncertainty regarding potential mass deportation.
While we still do not know exactly what actions the incoming administration may or may not take at this time, it is important that our families have access to resources and information to establish an action plan.
This Family Resource Toolkit is available in English and Spanish and contains information and resources about your rights, current DPS policies, training, mental health support, and a list of community resources. Please read this guide and save it so you can refer back to it whenever necessary.
In addition to reviewing the guide, it is important that families update emergency contacts. Each student should have at least two emergency contacts. These individuals do not need to be family members; they can be any trusted adult known by the family. We also ask that families identify those authorized to pick up their students (including older siblings) from school if a parent or guardian cannot. Please see the directions at the bottom of this email for more information on how to update emergency contacts.
At the time of this communication, our schools are still designated sensitive locations, meaning that they are places where Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is restricted from conducting enforcement actions. Our schools are safe, and we want our students here. While our function is to provide education for all students, our responsibility is to provide safe and welcoming environments. That has not changed. Lastly, AUL Denver will be hosting a forum to provide additional information to students during advisory tomorrow.

IMPORTANT:
In an effort to maximize safety on campus, parents/guardians please encourage your scholar(s) NOT to leave the school building including going to their vehicles during school hours unless it is lunch time per the student handbook. Students who leave the school building without permission from the front office will be asked not to return to school until a parent/guardian meeting is scheduled.
IMPORTANT:
AUL Basketball games will be on Wednesdays from 1-4 PM at the Gold Crown Recreation Facility in Lakewood, CO!

SOS - Signs of Suicide
Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),
I hope this email finds you well. AUL Denver prioritizes our students safety and mental health. Our mental health professionals -- DonDre Harris (School Social Worker/504 Coordinator), Manuela Roa-Gonzalez (School Social Worker), and Zeta Arellano (Restorative Justice Coordinator/MTSS Coordinator), will be facilitating a Signs of Suicide (SOS) presentation to the AUL Denver student body.
What is Signs of Suicide (SOS) and Why Do Schools Use It?
Signs of Suicide (SOS) is an evidence-based prevention program designed to help students recognize warning signs of depression and suicide in themselves and their peers. It equips young people with the tools to seek help and encourages open conversations about mental health.
Schools implement SOS presentations to educate students about the importance of mental health, reduce stigma surrounding depression, and promote early intervention. By teaching students how to recognize and respond to signs of distress, schools aim to create a safer and more supportive environment for all students. The program also provides a crucial opportunity for students to connect with trusted adults and resources if they or someone they know is struggling.
Parents and guardians are a key part of this process, as awareness and support at home are vital for a child’s mental health and well-being.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

AUL WHOLE CHILD ASSISTANCE FUND
Greetings AUL Families,
At AUL Denver we work to provide whole child services to ensure our scholars have everything they need in order to thrive. We recognize that there are financial needs in our community based on numerous life circumstances. This has led AUL Denver to establish the Whole Child Assistance Fund for our families. The Whole Child Assistance Fund will be returning this month. Please set up a meeting with Mr. Lee to learn more about whether you meet the criteria for the fund.
This fund will be able to support families in various ways including creating a sustainability plan after funds are provided. If you are in need of financial assistance, please schedule an in person meeting with a school administrator to begin this process.

Covid 19 Protocol Reminders
If you test positive for COVID-19, isolate yourself by staying home for five days. Day zero is the day you start having symptoms or the day you test positive.
You may end isolation on day five if:
- You have no symptoms, or your symptoms are improving and
- You are fever-free for 24 hours without using fever-reducing medications
After you have ended the isolation and you are feeling better, wear a high-quality mask (e.g., KN95, N95) through day 10. If your symptoms are not improving and/or you have a fever, isolate until day 10.
IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM SCHOOL NURSE
Hello Families, Staff, and Board Members!
As we get settled into the 2024-2025 school year, I wanted to send out a message about helping to keep AUL as healthy as possible. Though the Covid-19 pandemic has ended, it is still very much a part of our lives. We are also entering flu/RSV season. We are asking that you keep your child home if they are not feeling well.
There are four main reasons for children and adults to stay home:
1. The child or staff member could infect others with a contagious illness, either because of symptoms, a diagnosis, or recent exposure to a contagious illness.
2. The child or staff member does not feel well enough to take part in usual school activities.
3. A child needs more care than teachers and staff can give while still caring for the other children.
4. The child or staff member has a fever (100.4 or greater), diarrhea, a severe cough, flu-like symptoms, or vomiting.
Your child can return to school 24 hours after their fever has resolved without fever reducing medication, 24 hours after their last episode of diarrhea/vomiting, and once other symptoms have started to improve. Please contact the school to have your child excused if they are sick
Thank you,
Gina Hughes, RN – school nurse
