Happy Friday! Please be reminded that DCPS students will not have school on Monday, November 11, 2024, in observance of Veterans Day. We look forward to seeing all of our students on Tuesday.
Did your student celebrate any holidays or traditions related to their culture, race, or ethnicity this month? Please share any photos or videos related to your celebrations via email: hyde.addison@k12.dc.gov. The Equity and Anti-Racism Task Force would love to include it in an upcoming newsletter.

Celebrate National School Psychology Week!
Monday, November 11 through Friday, November 15 is National School Psychology Week! This week offers a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the invaluable contributions of school psychologists within our schools and communities.
Weâre excited to celebrate Ms. Leopold, our School Psychologist, whose commitment to studentsâ mental well-being has a lasting impact. Through her guidance and support, she helps students navigate challenges, enabling them to thrive both academically and emotionally. Weâre proud to have her on the Hyde-Addison team!
Reminder: No Sharing of Lunch Items
For the safety of all students, we remind families that sharing lunch items is not permitted. This policy is in place to prevent allergic reactions and ensure the health and well-being of every student. Please speak with your child or children to reinforce the importance of this.

Medication Policy Reminder
For the safety and well-being of all students, we remind parents and guardians that any authorized medications, for which appropriate medical forms have been completed and submitted, must be handed directly to the nurse or front office staff. Please do not send medications with your child.

Hardy Middle School will be hosting several Open Houses this school year for prospective students and their families. Please mark your calendars -
SY 2024-2025 Open House Dates:

⢠Wednesday, January 29, 2025 from 5-7pm
If you are unable to attend any of these events, Hardy MS will also be doing feeder school visits to talk to students and meet with families.

Provide Feedback on the Proposed SY 26-29 DCPS Calendars
To enable future planning and for the convenience of students, staff and families, and in alignment with DCMR regulations, DCPS will release the SY 26-29 calendars this upcoming winter.
To support this process, families are invited to share feedback with DCPS. Please feel free to share feedback on proposed calendars at this link (Spanish version available here) by Friday, November 15.

DCPS FY 2026 Budget
FY 2026 (School Year 25-26) Budget Forum (11/12)
DC Public Schools (DCPS) is excited to partner with the DC Local School Advisory Team Collective (DCLC) to convene a public budget forum on Tuesday, November 12, 6 -7:30 p.m. at Brookland Middle School (1150 Michigan Avenue Northeast Washington, DC 20017). The evening will provide opportunities to hear from DCPS Leadership and participate in a discussion about the budget for Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26). Register here to attend. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
FY 2026 (School Year 25-26) Public Budget Hearing (11/20)
DC Public Schools (DCPS) will convene a public budget hearing on Wednesday, November 20, at 6 p.m. The purpose of this virtual hearing is to gather input from families, staff, and the community to shape the upcoming Fiscal Year 2026 (School Year 2025-2026) budget. All volunteers, including parents, must complete the DCPS Clearance process before volunteer services can be provided.
SY24-25 Student Meal Prices and Payment Information
Attendance Policy
Please notify the school every time your student is absent. Excuse notes must be emailed to hyde.addison@k12.dc.gov within 5 school days after the studentâs return to school for the absence to be excused. (Classroom teachers cannot excuse absences.)
Prioritizing Attendance: DCPS Calendar for Planning
Attendance is a priority of DCPS and Hyde-Addison, as we know regular school attendance is integral to student success. Please find the DCPS calendar, linked here or at the dcps.dc.gov website, so that your family can plan events and vacations accordingly.
Medications and Allergies
If your child needs to take medication or requires medical treatment during school hours, please have your medical provider complete the appropriate forms â thereâs the Medication and Treatment Authorization Forms, the Asthma Action Plan and the Action Plan for Anaphylaxis. Please email forms to hyde.Addison@k12.dc.gov and ask them to be submitted to the nurse. We will confirm receipt.
If your child needs a dietary accommodation, your provider should also complete the Dietary Accommodations Form. Please submit the completed form to dietary.forms@k12.dc.gov and cc hyde.addison@k12.dc.gov.

a. Your parent portal will give you access to billing, scheduling and many more things that will assist you.

Ensure to have your REQUESTED SCHEDULE completed.
Ensure you fill out all 3 OSSE forms.
Ensure you fill out a separate form for each of your students.

Ensure you are putting your child/children grade on the enrollment form.

Fall Enrichment Registration Update From Active Play
Dear Hyde Addison Families,
Weâre thrilled to announce that over 200 participants are registered in Active Play enrichment programs for our inaugural season at Hyde this fall! Please note that registration for Fall(1) has closed, while registration for Fall(2) will remain open until the end of September. If any classes are unable to proceed due to low enrollment, we will notify registered participants via email by August 13th. Parents will have the option to transfer to another class or receive a refund. Please keep an eye out mid-August for a "Welcome Email" containing important information including pick-up and drop off details. We look forward to meeting you all and becoming a part of the Hyde community!
SY24-25 Enrichment Registration is Now Open!
We look forward to offering a wide range of enrichment programs to the Hyde-Addison student community starting the 2024-2025 academic year. In this document, you will find:

- A table of the Fall 2 enrichment schedule, including prices and class dates
- A link to our website here to view the descriptions of each enrichment program.
- For answers to frequently asked questions and program policies in our Active Play Enrichment Program Handbook, linked here.
Registration opened on Friday, June 14 at 12pm and will be on a first-come first-serve basis. You must use the two distinct registration links on the website to register for both Fall(1) and Fall(2). If you do not yet have a TeamSnap account, you will be prompted to create one upon clicking on the registration link once it goes live on 6/14. Once your account is created, you will be asked to enter student information (student name, homeroom, allergies, etc) prior to being able to register for the class. Payment will be required to finalize registration.

The Great Envelope Race wrapped up in October by breaking both our participation rate (31%) and fundraising goal ($52,478). It's been amazing to see engagement across the entire Hyde community! Thank you to everyone for participating.

Family Newsletter Features
When you receive the family newsletter by email on Fridays, as well as most other school-wide correspondence, you have the option to click and view the newsletter in a web browser. Viewing the newsletter in a web browser enables automatic translation into over 20 languages as well as provides the option for increased visibility with high-contrast settings and increased font sizes.
Family Newsletters will continue to be archived on the Hyde-Addison website (https://hydeaddisondc.org/home) throughout the year for your reference.
Absences
Please be reminded to email hyde.addison@k12.dc.gov to inform the team of your child's absence, in order for it to be excused. If your child has a communicable illness, like strep throat, RSV, pink eye, or lice, please also include that information.
