Dear Families ~
It is so hard to believe that we have turned the calendar to November! I hope you have enjoyed the amazing fall weather and warm temperatures. As we approach the break later this month you will be scheduling a conference with your child's teacher. Conferences are the most important way that we communicate with families about student progress and growth so far this year.
Thank you for making time to meet with your child's teacher. I will be at school during conference days, please feel free to stop in and say hello or check in. If I am in a conference at that time you can always reach me through email: shayes@bsdvt.org or by phone 864-8478.
We appreciate your partnership as we support your child's learning journey.

VTCAP School Newsletter Message to Families:
If your student participated in the VTCAP state assessment last spring, you will be receiving your student’s test results with their first report card of this school year. Most students who were in grades 3-9 and 11 last year took these tests. While the score report does show your student compared to their school district and the state, the comparisons are preliminary. The Agency of Education will release official statewide assessment results later this year.
The score reports represent how your student performed on the day of testing. If tested on a different day, they might get a slightly different score. The goal of the test is also to assess our school’s performance: our success in teaching your child. These assessments are only one way of showing your student's accomplishments. Talking with your student’s teachers and school leadership will help you understand your child's performance.

A Big Thank You from the Library
Incredible gratitude to (Grandma) Sue O'Brien and her sewing magic for resuscitating our much-loved (and very battered) canvas floor chairs!!
Reading is Magic!
We've been reading magic tree house stories in 3rd grade. We got information and ideas from the stories that helped us write our own. Then, we got to read them to the Kindergarten students. We even got to practice using synonyms to make our stories more exciting. It was so awesome and fun! - Evie, Maisey, Evelyn, Elise
