St. Luke Weekly SMORE
May 5, 2023
Leadership Message
Dear St. Luke Families,
In Catholic tradition, the month of May is dedicated to Mary. Mary was chosen by God above all other women, her faith and obedience paved the way for the Incarnation. Her example teaches us faith, obedience, humility and most of all, how to love. According to St. Thomas of Villanova, "If in this world any creature ever loved God with whole heart, with whole soul, and with whole mind, she was the creature.” During the month of May we will be encouraging students, staff and families to celebrate Mary through activities and prayer.
Our week started off beautifully as we all sat in the presence of our Lord through Adoration. We were blessed to have Father Vince from OLPH join us in our celebration as students and staff offered prayer and intentions to Jesus.
This week was also filled with opportunities for students to go beyond the school walls and learn in alternative environments. Grade 2- 8 students headed to the Royal Alberta Museum and Grade 1’s learned all about trees at Broadmoor Park. New experiences lead our students to new discoveries which open minds to new possibilities.
Mental Health week was also a focus as staff and students participated in many mental health activities including, forest bathing, mindful smoothies, ‘Hats on for Mental Health’ and giant yard games. Students learned about positive thinking and the importance of paying attention to our mental health.
Have a wonderful weekend,
