O'Maley Family Focus
Updates from Principal Lynne Beattie - November 23, 2020
Hello, O'Maley Families!
Happy Thanksgiving! It is at this time of year that we often rejoice at the opportunity to spend time with our family and friends. This year will look very different for many of us.Thanksgiving is one of my family's favorite holidays. There is nothing better than the smell of turkey roasting and cornbread baking in the oven, the sound of laughter as we boisterously play games after dinner. My daughter has a late November birthday, so the extended family gathering for Thanksgiving has always had the added pleasure of her birthday celebration. This year we will all be in our own homes, and while we hope to dine together over Zoom, it certainly won't be the same.
While it will be sad for many of us to be apart from families this season, I urge you to please heed the CDC and Governor Baker's direction to stay within your immediate family. All of us at O'Maley want you to be safe and return to school healthy after the long weekend. No one wants to look back at the weekend and wish they hadn't visited a loved one.
Superintendent Lummis has sent information about travel restrictions for Massachusetts residents. If you do need to travel, please be reminded that you are expected to follow the protocols strictly by getting tested, receiving a negative test and/or quarantining before returning to school if you have traveled to a high risk state.
Please continue to read below for important upcoming events and information. There are two feedback opportunities in addition to important information. As always, reach out with questions or comments any time!
Best,
Principal Lynne Beattie
Welcome Ace!
I want to introduce you all to Ace. He will be joining us at O'Maley and at the other GPS schools to provide emotional comfort and be a companion in our community. Officer Sutera is his caretaker, and Ace will be with him during the school day. We will be setting procedures for students to visit with Ace, where he will be, incidents of allergies, etc. as he begins to integrate into the O'Maley community. We are looking forward to having him with us!
