A message from the principal
Greetings Island Lake Families,
I would like to thank each family who donated food or money to our food drive this week. The Ralph Reeder Food Shelf is grateful for our efforts to support families in our community. We have eclipsed our goal of 60 bags of donated items, which means I will be donning a costume at school next week. š
As a child, I remember once observing an eclipse while at school. We made special glasses and observed the eclipse from our school playground. Itās exciting to know that our school has an opportunity to experience an eclipse on Monday afternoon (between 1-3:00 p.m.). The forecast calls for clouds and maybe some rain. I wanted to share that we prioritize safety when taking part in this experience, and our district has provided some guidance around viewing the eclipse. Our Island Lake PTA has generously offered to purchase sets of AAS-approved eclipse glasses for use on Monday! Thank you, PTA, for assisting our students in experiencing this once-in-20-years natural phenomenon.
A gentle reminder that next week is a two-day school week. Wednesday through Friday (April 10-12) are non-student contact days.
Kind Regards,
Bill

Thank you Island Lake! We surpassed our goals!
A huge thank you to our generous Island Lake community. We ended up with $1,792 in monetary donations and 50 bags of donated food. With a $15 monetary donation equaling one bag of food, the grand total of "bags" donated was 170!! That's 110 bags over our initial goal. Thank you Island Lake!
A note from Ralph Reeder
Dear Island Lake Students, Families and Staff,
Thank you so much for participating in the Fight Hunger in our Community food and cash drive for the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf. As you know, the rising costs of food, gas and housing are making it even more challenging for people living paycheck to paycheck to make ends meet. Important donations of food and money allow us to continue to meet the needs of the thousands of adults, seniors and children that visit us each month. In addition to food, we are also able to connect families to additional programs and services to help get them back on their feet.
Thank you for making this possible!
