West Point El. Parent Update
Week of September 1, 2024
Dear West Point Families,
Happy September! We hope you are enjoying the long weekend with your families.
Here are four things to know for the coming week.
- There is no school on Monday for Labor Day.
- Preschool begins this week. For K-6 parents picking up students at the end of school, please do not park in the front pickup loop before 3:10 p.m. each day. We will need the front pick up loop available for preschool parents to pick up their students at 3:00 p.m. each day.
- For those who participated in our Summer Reading Bingo, be sure to return your summer reading bingo card to Mrs. Bateman this week.
- We are starting our daily home reading and attendance brag tags this month. Each class has a way for students to track their daily home reading. Please schedule a consistent time for your student to read at home each day so they can be successful in earning their brag tag and building this important habit. We also ask you to please support your student in making it a priority to be at school each day. Thank you for your help!
Every day is a great day to be a Wildcat!
Sincerely,
Marjorie Conrad and Christie Bouy
Principal and Assistant Principal, West Point Elementary

School Fundraiser
We have one week and counting! Our World's Finest Chocolate fundraiser is coming September 9 - September 20! Thank you for being such great supporters of our fundraisers. By limiting requests for donations for school supplies and field trips and by providing school t-shirts for all of our students, we hope we have made it easier for our families to support our school and our PTA fundraisers.
The money from this school fundraiser will be used to:
- purchase student rewards, incentives, classroom reward parties, brag tags, and enrichment opportunities (i.e., magician assembly, Sphero Indie robots for class reward parties, potentially a book vending machine if we raise enough funds) as part of our positive behavior plan
- support and show appreciation for our teachers
- provide additional resources for our school (i.e., recess equipment, specialized supplies for classrooms)
Experience the Magic
M is for MANNERS
Our new magical manner for the week is, "Don't Yuck Someone's Yum." This manner reminds students that "everyone likes different things, and that is ok!" 52 Modern Manners for Kids
Students will begin earning their M this month in our MAGIC WPE LETTERing challenge. They will learn and practice the importance of manners in creating an environment of respect, responsibility, safety, and caring.
Excellence Project
We will continue to include this information during September. We are hoping students will create a plan by the start of 2nd term.
Please help your student come up with an idea for an Excellence Project for the year. It could be something they want to learn more about or a skill they would like to get better at. The sky is the limit! We want every student to experience the feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment that comes from putting effort into learning something new. We have included information about the project below. We have designed it to be open ended so that it can be as simple or complex as you and your child would like it to be.
Community Classes
Check out the Community Education classes for kids and adults happening this fall!

Here is the information about the Device Protection Plan. Payments can be made on myDSD until September 13, 2024. A new plan must be purchased every year.
