Photos from the Week - Fourth Grade Chorus
Dear Families,
Bravo to the Fourth Grade Chorus for outstanding performances last Wednesday evening! There was nearly 100% attendance for both groups- an indicator of the commitment and investment students have in their learning of this favorite fourth grade special subject. We appreciate our very talented music teachers, Mrs. Bucella and Mrs. Martin, for all of their work and for instilling a love of music and performance in our students.
Students loved performing to a full cafeteria and a supportive audience - thank you to all families and staff who attended these special performances. We can't wait for the second performances in the spring.
As a reminder, there is no school tomorrow in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr holiday.
Have a wonderful week!
Sincerely,
Lisa and Gina

NEW - Introducing the Floral Belonging / Mentor Crew
All fourth grade students have the opportunity to join a Student Council Crew to serve in a leadership role aligned with their interests. We will highlight these crews in upcoming Falcon Flyers.
Introducing the Belonging/Mentor Crew! This group of student leaders aims to build a strong sense of belonging for all students at Floral Street School. The crew planned and led their first all-school "Belonging Booster" last Thursday during arrival time. They worked together to create coloring sheets with positive affirmations. They then greeted students as they arrived to school and handed out the coloring sheets. Students loved their warm greetings and the positive messages they received on their sheet.
Next up for this Crew? They plan to divide into 2 focus groups: one group will plan a way to welcome students who are new to Floral. The other group will plan a way to serve as mentors to kindergarten students. Their Crew advisors (Mrs. Kelly and Mrs. McCubrey) can't wait to see what they create.
Members of the Belonging/Mentor Crew:
Mrs. Edgren's Class: Gisel & Lia
Mrs. Murphy's and Mrs. Celularo's Class: AJ, Savannah, Azayla, & Aisha
Mrs. Powell's Class: Kingston, Owen, Issa, Sathvik, Danica, Jackson, & Olivia
Mrs. Ralys' Class: Josie, Miranda, Guilherme, Michelle, & Miguel

Falcon Four Behavior Matrix
One of the most effective ways to support students with positive behavior is to be clear about what is expected, to practice those expectations (so it gets into their "muscle memory"), and then take time to reflect on their behavior and provide a lot of specific feedback (mostly positive but also corrective as needed). We don't just want students to follow expected behaviors; we want them to feel invested in their behavior and empowered to contribute to their school community through their positive behavior.
So how can you support them at home? You can help them reflect on their progress with using Falcon Four behaviors at school. Please click on the attachment below for access to the Falcon Four behavior matrix. Have your child pick a setting at school and then talk through each of the expected behaviors at that setting. Which expected behaviors in that setting do they use consistently? Which expected behavior are they still working to master in that setting? Why is it important that everyone follow these expected behaviors in that setting? How does it help all students?
Falcon Four Passport
All classes are tracking their learning of Falcon Four expected behaviors using a very official passport. Please be on the look-out for your child's completed passport (pictured below).

Note from the Nurses
*Students are not permitted to carry any medicine (including cough drops, antibiotics, Tylenol or Advil) in their backpacks or lunch boxes. Please do not instruct your child to self medicate while in school. If they are uncomfortable and need assistance, they are always welcome in the nursing office.
*Please send your child in with a water bottle each day. We are seeing many children that are dehydrated and may benefit from increased hydration.
Please reach out with any questions or concerns. We are here to help.
Best,
