PTA Cultural Festival Next Week!
Just one week to go before the PTA Cultural Festival, which will be a unique opportunity to celebrate our diverse school community - all thanks to the hard work of our dedicated parent volunteers. We look forward to seeing as many families as possible on the day to support their efforts and get involved in the fun!
'The Nukes' at MENPS
Our thanks to 'The Nukes' for a fantastic performance of original material last week in celebration of NZ Music Month, and also to Amanda and Viv in the library for their promotional work.
King's Birthday & Curriculum Day May 30
Tomorrow is our ‘Curriculum Day’, which was set aside for schools to continue working on the significant amount of curriculum material launched this year. School will be closed for instruction (and also for the King’s Birthday Public Holiday on Monday).
Our approach continues to ‘evolve’ in a measured and thoughtful way, assimilating new content through the lens of our aspirations and vision for children who are ‘Wide-eyed and Enthusiastic About Learning’.
Education is an area of public life and policy that undergoes regular change. While it may seem simple on the surface, human development and learning is nonetheless extremely complex and nuanced, so it is essential we take the time to consider the needs of the children we teach in our own context.
The challenge is to maintain a clear, coherent vision and approach that takes into account personal as well as academic development without losing sight of the breadth and richness of experiences that build essential character and values over time, which is something we continue to strive for here at MENPS.
All the best for the long weekend - we look forward to seeing everyone back on Tuesday.
