Dr. Nealie Whitt III's Notes
Some thoughts for the starting school year
Message from the Principal
Viper Nation,
We are now fully immersed in all aspects of our vibrant community—academics, sports, and everything that makes Viper Nation special! As we continue to navigate through this school year, I want to share a few important reminders with you all.
Firstly, I encourage every student to make their best effort to attend school every day and arrive on time. Consistent attendance is key to academic success, and I am incredibly proud of the commitment our scholars have shown so far. Thanks to everyone's hard work, from our students to our dedicated staff, we saw significant improvements in our growth test results last year. This year, we are determined to lead the way, not just within our district but across the entire state.
Secondly, I want to address a crucial safety reminder for dismissal time. Parents, please avoid parking across the street at Clarke Elementary or behind the school when picking up your child. This creates a serious safety hazard. Instead, please use the designated carpool line to ensure everyone's safety.
As always, if you have any questions or need further support for your child, do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher, or any member of the VCHS staff or administration. We are here to help and support you and your student.
Thank you for being a part of Viper Nation!
Welcome to the Viper Family
Ms. Layla Brewer
Hello Viper Family! I am Layla Brewer, the college adviser here at Vance County High School. I am originally from Bullock, North Carolina, and I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in May of 2024 with my Bachelor's degree in Economics and Quantitative Financial Economics. I was the first in my family to go to college, and I am proud to come from a blue-collar family. My ultimate goal is to go to law school, but right now I am loving my position with the Carolina College Advising Corps as VCHS' College Adviser. When I'm not meeting with students about their post-secondary plans, I enjoy watching basketball, college football, and going to concerts!
